Does Gene (Graybeard) ever come by here any more? He used to post in here quite often and I developed a pretty good relationship with him, but I got sick and lost track of him. I am just curious if he is still active in this forum? He was just in the process of moving from Las Vegas to California when I lost track. Gene, if you read this, I would love to hear from you.

I, too, miss O'le Gray Beard. I enjoyed reading his posts. Last time I PM'd him was Christmas last year. He was then in the move back to California. Said he had lots of work ahead on his homestead. He said he was just going to keep up with a few threads he was active in. If things got better, time wise, he would be active in the forums again. Sadly, I have not seen too much activity. His last post in one thread was 12-2-2015. But last activity was a PM 11-15-2016. Maybe some day he will return.

Trying to PM him may be worthwhile.

Well, I pretty much never come onto RCU and I canceled any post I was on except for the old Goldberg extra 300 and Rick Stubbs Up-Roar thread. Rick emailed me and said someone was looking for me.
I am settled in but doing a lot of cutting and burning plus Duck season is upon Us!
I haven't flown or built sense leaving Vegas. No place close enough or cheap enough to. Fly at. The Vegas area spoils you. You can fly at so many different places there, all close and all Free!
Tonight is my old clubs (local) meeting. We are trying to get the old club and field back in operation. You know how it is, getting everyone together at one time. Tonight may be It?
I'm just outside of Yosemite park in the hills. We need to cut a few trees then cut a runway. The AMA and insurance plus any County permits.
Surprise, the local airport manager really wants us back!
I cut two Dirty Birdi kits before I left but not going to even get my shop going again until I have a place to fly.
My old super shop I used to have here is gone, it was my old mobil home. When it left my power to my small shop also left. I'm set up in my garage but I will need to have my electrician come out to wire me in some good lights.
Anyway, I'm still alive at the moment. My email is still the same if anyone needs me. Not sure if the PM is still working or not but I should see any posts on this thread.

Gene, really good to see a post from you. I suffered a pretty severe heart attack in September (one of several) and after some complications ended up with a quadruple bypass. I had a pretty rough time but am feeling pretty good now, just extremely weak. It;s hard to believe what that can take out of you. I just need to gain some strength, but I plan to be back at it by spring. Anyway, good to hear from you.

Max, sorry to hear that. The first one I had in Vegas was the Worst! Vee Fib 3 times then got home and had another one, it wasn't good but nothing compared to the first.
I just had another one in Sep. But when the pain first hit I went right to the hospital. No more of that just gas BS.
They saved me here in our little, very little, local hospital then sent me to Modesto by helicopter and put in two new stints.
I haven't had any surgery so far. I feel great but run out of air just walking to the bathroom. Like you, no stamina. I'm doing a little duck hunting, very little, I'm hunting out of the handicap blinds when I can get a reservation. I'm freaking people out, when my partner can't go I still go out by myself.
You will understand this more then most, when it's time to go it's time. Can't think of a better place to do it.
I have an old cell phone so I can call 911 and I carry a bottle with two ground up aspirin and two nitroglycerin in it.
I have no plans on just dropping dead and will fight it but you know.
Just do what I do and listen to your cardiologist. Do whatever he says, except about the exercise and loosing that 10 pounds!😅😅😅 I'm told to walk but that hurts too much, I'm cutting trees and burning brush. Bet my kid doctor can't do that!!😉😉😉
I plan on starting to build a bit come spring. Electric boats probably, no place up here to Fly!

Good to hear from you Gray Beard. Sorry to hear about your medical issues. Hope you and Max make a full recovery. Getting old is no fun. I'm feeling my way there. Glad that things are moving along and you are settled in your home . I know you had lots of work ahead of you. I know what that is like. I gave up on flying and building this year to catch up on major home projects I had neglected. All caught up but two. One welding project I will start in late February and I have to get my non-running Jeep back on the road. It is my AC transport when I go to the flying club. Cutting and burning been doing that too, cutting trees and and splitting for firewood. Lots of work. We have a few critters here in Texas. I have a hog trap set at a neighbor's place. Trying to get Bacon and Pork Chops.

I still have the Up-Roar kit in storage. I've only opened it to check contents. It will be my first kit build since around the 70’s. I've been scratch building since I got back in the hobby. I will be up to 5 planes once I finish my current build. Hope to see you on the Up-Roar thread once I get started, maybe after Summer.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May, in 2017, you have your homestead projects done, your local flying club going and a new runway built. Then get back on the Forum.

Speaking of critters, bacon and pork chops, I have a friend who flies with me that made an offhand statement back in October of this year, saying he was going to go razor back hunting. The pig population here has exploded and they are both mean and destructive, so it's open season on them. Well, I just made some statement to blow him off, something like bring me a good piece of pork when you get one. To make a long story short, about a week later he shows up at my house carrying a plastic bag with a full hind quarter in it. He had done just what he said he was going to do. He killed two that day, a mother and a young 'un. I smoked that hind quarter and it was one of the tastiest pieces of meat I have had for a long time. We even put what was left in a crock pot with some BBQ sauce and had some pulled pork the next day. If you haven't eaten wild pig, I highly recommend it. Even my granddaughters, who hate pork, loved this stuff.

However, two weeks later I had the heart attack that put me in the hospital for 60 days, so maybe it wasn't as good as I thought.

Yep, let's blame it on the Pig! Had nothing to do with the cholesterol of a lifetime of eating anything that got in the Way!
I'm as good as I'm going to get. Cholesterol is about 100, BP the same as when I was a teen. The Dr just said oops, **** Happens!
I have about 75 wild turkey hanging around the place plus the deer.
When I got here there was Nothing? Then slowly the critters started showing up. I quit feeding the turkey, they really get pushy and beat on the windows then stare at you. I was OK with it until they started flying up on the roof. 25 30 or 40 pound birds chasing each other across shingles isn't a good thing. The deer are pushy too but they stay on the ground.
Hogs, we have them up here and I have hunted them. I have never seen any I my Area?
On the other side of town I have seen a lot of them, about 12 miles from here.
My buddy just got here, he and my wife watch football together. He brought me a can of Blue Moly never seez! I haven't seen this product sence I was 13! It doesn't conform to the union rules so it was getting Tossed? He brought fresh donuts too.

Hey GB, great to see you posting again, even if it has nothing to do with flying!! I went in for an Angio on the 7th and my arm is still aching. Having shortness of breath while walking a flight of stairs with some mild chest pain, but the heart looks good, so I can get back to exercising without fear. I dont know what is worse, the chest pains, or the side effects of the Nitro patches.

Crap, I deserve all my problems, I earned them, I didn't mean to start any trends.
My big attacks were several years ago while still in Vegas. That was really a close thing and a should a been. This last one wasn't too bad, it hurt but it took hours to really hit. I was at the hospital waiting for it.
When they got me to a big hospital (helicopter) they went in and gave me two new stints.
I'm fine but like you the shortness of breath is a bother.
I haven't been opened up for things like a bypass so I'm not complaining.
I'm still doing what I want, just a lot slower.
No complaints, if I start to ***** too much I just look at some of the other guys at the VA hospital, I'm doing really great!😃😃😃you guys take care of Yourselves!
