Default Balsa USA J3 Cub CG

Just finished my 1/4 scale Balsa USA J3. I have completed it's maiden flight and so far all is good. I think the recommended CG location is a bit forward. My reasoning is that elevator authority weakens on landing. It just wants to come down on the mains without much of a flair.

Any thoughts? I figure I can move the CG back 1/4" without hazard.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Most kit built CUBs show a CG range that is way too far forward for my preferences. I usually start with a CG no further forward than 30% of MAC and work it back from there. You can get back to the 35%+ range before you even start to notice any instability and then all you might notice is the elevator getting more sensitive. A CUB should require only a tiny bit of elevator for flair on landing. If your CUB requires a lot of elevator, it is probably way nose heavy.

Thanks Truckracer. Your thoughts parallel mine.
