Default Apache/SLEC Super Chipmunk Build

I have started the 1/5 scale chipmunk build.
not much progress to show, though i am making templates for all the complex parts as i go. that way i can make more parts as needed in the future.
The engine will be a nice 40cc four stroke Saito FG-40, running Hitec HS645MG servo's throughout the airframe. fiber glass finish with a professionally sprayed paint job by a local painter who is very good at custom paint jobs for vintage race cars.

got sidetracked finishing up a 1/5 Cub. Cub is at a stopping point, waiting on parts so i'll be working on the Chipmunk tomorrow. Chipmunk stopped due to some discrepancy in parts diagram and instruction booklet. fired an email to the kit manufacture and stopped till they got back with me.
also making templates as i go, will be building another one of these birds one day in full wing span trainer colors

Default Nice Looking Kit

Michael,
I'd never heard of that kit before. I did a little internet searching and found it in the UK. Both the "Pepsi" and the "Pennzoil"

Looks like it ought to be a nice kit. I wonder if it is available to buy in the states somewhere?

Well, anyway, I'd surely read along if you decide to keep the build thread going as you progress.

yes, that is the same kit. as far as i know, they are not avail in the states. i ordered mine direct, and paid 200 in shipping!! someone in the states cuts a large scale chipmunk. maybe Carolina Kit Cutters. whoever it is, its around $600

hit a stopping point on the chipmunk, got some work done on a 1/5 scale Cub. then hit a stopping point on the Cub and jumped back to the Chipmunk. and some foam builds in-between.
vertical stab and rudder roughed in. i think i am going to build the full wingspan wing. worried a bit about wing loading, this bird could come out a little on the heavy side, smoke system, fiberglass and paint etc... the extra 6 inches will help, and since i am not going to fly super tight aerobatics the wing span won't bother the flying characteristics at all.
