Default sig skybolt

Hey guys,

I bought a sig skybolt a few years back and have just now started to put it together. the manf. suggests that you put a .60 in it. Do you think that I would get away with useing a Irvine .53 that I have already sitting around? Im not looking for unlimited vertical or 3d stunts.

Any information would be great,
Thanks, Josh

That will pull it, But as you said, you won't be going ballistic.

A friend has ben flying one of those on a Webra Blackhead .60 for many, many years and if flies just fine. I'm guessing that a modern .53 would put out at least that much power.

Hey crazyintheair -

My buddy's Skybolt has an OS .61FX for power. It took 12 ounces of lead up front to get proper CG (hasn't flown it yet). That's one reason you see so many people put up to 120 FS engines on this airplane - it needs that kinda weight to balance it if you don't want to use a lotta lead. Keep that in mind in making your engine decision.

When building, you could plan on the weight issue and build the firewall an inch further forward.
