Hey all, I'm planning to build a SIG 71" Cub for the next flying season and I wanted to know if anyone has any suggestions about how to power this plane and if there are other different options out there, just in case.
I read that the cub can only be powered by up to 40 size engines, is it OK if I put my old Magnum XL .46 on it? And what could i do hide the ugly muffler, should I just throw it away, get a pitts-style muffler?
Also I was wondering if 21st century has colored iron-on fabric for the project, and some suggestions as how can i get it to look realistic, since this is my first time building a scale model

That 1/6 Cub is an excellent first scale job, and being so, it's a lot of work to build.
If you are careful on all the wood fitting in the forward part of the fuselage it will hold your Magnum 46 with no trouble, but I'd add some triangular stock on the inside corners anyway, and perhaps use a slightly thicker firewall.
Other than that, the airplane is plenty strong if you don't try to fly it like a rocket. And do remember the wing struts on this plane are structural, don't attempt to fly it without them.
The muffler is your choice, but unless you do some mods there's no room to use one with the can behind the engine, so a Pitts muffler will probably stick out too.
My covering choice on this plane is doped Koverall, but 21st Century and others have adhesive backed iron-on fabrics in many colors, and a lot of them don't have to be painted after application. But if you really want scale looks use the Koverall, or spend the bucks for Stits System covering and materials.
Enjoy it, I have my third ready to start on construction.

thanks for the info, and sorry i took so long to answer-didnt get an email feedback...
Another point: to hide the engine would it be a good idea to put a super cub cowl on? looks like a pretty good idea, the only thing is that the super cub cowl looks somewhat ugly...
I've seen bungees are pretty simple to build, any suggestions?
And one last thing: is it possible to build a scale sunroof for this plane?, by the way im not going to do anything worse than hammerheads or attempts-to-hover the plane

If you use a stock muffler something will stick put using either the J-3 engine cowl or the Super Cub. Personally, I think the Suer Cub looks better, never liked the engine sticking out. If you invert the engine completely and use a different muffler, you can probably have the engine fully enclosed with either cowling. On my last one tne engine was inverted with a "Tongue" muffler, only the flat exhaust stack stuck out.
Scale looking bungees aren't hard, there are some good illustrations with the Sig kit you have. Working bungees are a different matter. Do a search, there's a lot of information here already.
As drawn, the aileron servo is right in the middle of the "Sun roof" area. If you use dual aileron servos, or move the single servo to a different location there's no reason not to use a clear canopy section between the front and rear spars in the center of the wing.
