Been reading some posts about this plane. I am just about ready to cover and am having second thoughts about servo placement because of CG balancing. I am putting a Saito 100 on it with the O.S. Aluminum mount. Has anyone used a Saito 100 on the front of this plane and did you have to add tail weight?
On my Ultra Stick 60, I used a Saito 100 and ended up putting the Rudder and Elevator servos in the rear to counterweight the engine, worked out PERFECT!!!
Any thoughts are appreciated, I read a few other threads and have yet to get a definitive answer with the Saito 100.

Hi NovaFlyer,
If you've got all the componets why don't you put it on the balancer? Just tape the servo's instead of mounting them and try it. This is how I usually try to balance a plane. Covering it doesn't change seem to change the balance point much. I also leave the engine loose so that I can move it if necessary.

The plane apparently balances out ideally with a stock build using an OS61FX and probably a plastic engine mount. Your Saito 100 is about an ounce heavier than the 61FX, add the extra weight of the aluminum mount, and you're a little nose heavy. You should be able to offset the extra weight with placement of the batteries.
I would fully assemble the plane before covering the fuse and installing the tail servos and control rods, and figure out where the battery should be placed. If the battery has to be placed too far back in the fuse, mount the rudder/elevator servo's in the rear. Then re-balance again before covering, and figure out where the battery should go.
That's the step I'm at myself.

i went through the same thought process with my v 60. i went with the stock servo placement with a saito 91 with a dave brown mount and was able to get to it balance just moving the battery aft a little - i would think you should be able to do the same with the 100. good luck - you're going to enjoy this plane .. . .
