Default Cessna 182 weight?

The Top Flite Cessna 182 1/5th scale box says 10-12lbs. My Cessna right now with out the glass and paint everything else installed weighs 9lbs. I'm using a 120/4 banger on it! Do you think I will go over the 12lbs and if so will it matter if its a pound or two over? I'm using .75 glass West System resin 2 coats ,primer, ppg paint and clear!

Hello.
Mine has an OS 120 surpass 3 and is painted. It weights about 15 pounds. I think it is impossible to built it lighter, if you want to detail it, paint it, etc.
But it flies very, very well. I love this plane.

TF kits of civilian planes just come out heavy. Their Bonanzas have been known to weigh in 18+ pounds when you factor in balancing weights and all. I have a OS 120 in my Bonanza which I estimate at 15 lbs. Flies beautifully. You should be OK. Do a search in the scale forum.

Dang!
Mine weighs under 10lbs with os 90 surpass, monokote covered, no cockpit or wheel pants. Sure comes in nice with the flaps down!
Been flying mine on and off for 5 yrs now.
Good Luck with yours.

Question for somebody! For being a 1/5 scale plane I find it hard to beleive that a 12x7 prop would be scale for this plane, because I was looking at the TowerHobbies website and for the plane they have a 12x7 prop listed for it, so is that the right size prop for scale appearance for this size plane. It just seems small for an 81" WS!
