Does anyone here have any experience building the Wing Mfg. AT-6 Texan (.40 size Sport Kit)?
I picked one up off RCU to build before I tackel my Wing Mfg. Hellcat - so I could get used to building foam core wings.
The kit should be here this week and I should be able to start it sometime this month! Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ted

I've had two of them and I am just about ready to build my third one. They are easy to build just take your time and follow the plans if you need a little more help just E-mail me and I'll be glad to help. They also fly just as good as you can fly and will respond to just about any manuvor you can put in it except 3-D flying. I've had a Super tiger 40 on mine and this last one a K/B 40 with tuned pipe Very fast just a brain fart at the wrong moment is what took it out. Realy going to miss that plane. But have another just waiting to be built.

Thanks for the info!
So many people in our club fly the t-34 and I just can't see myself getting one of them. I really like the way the texan looks - so I figured I'd pick one up.
Oh! What retracts did you put in it? and does it come with plans for flaps?
Thanks again!
Ted

On my AT-6 I had spring air retracts as far as flaps I didn't have them you realy don't need them except if you want them for detail. Mine was jet black with gold trim and the number 42 on the wing and tail also in gold. This is also my frequincy that I fly on.Where the wheel tubs are the wing aera look week but beleave me their not plenty of strenth there.

Your in for a pleasent surprise. The kit isn't that hard to build as long as you follow the blueprints. And it will fly just as good as it looks of course you know that it is a stand off scale. but even for a stand off it still looks good to me that is. Let me know what you think about the kit and your progress on it as you build it.
I just aquired the Coursair an am anciouse to quild it too of course I better finish the other projects that I have on the table(B-25, repair A-26,F-190,Jap Zero, Skybolt, Miss Vintage and B-17) Guess I better get going and do a little building. Can't just build one at a time But can only fly one at a time.

From: Bay Area, CA,
I recieved the radial engine kit for the AT-6 in the mail yesterday. The plane kit itself has not arrived yet.
In the box for the radial engine kit there was a note that informed me that WingMfg was going to quit producing kits.
What a bummer.

Yes its true but they will be missed very much by me for sure you see I live in the same city. I've even helped down at the factory a little bit. And I have seen all the kits that they built.I now own the A-26 invader.AT6, P-51. 190 folker. Jap Zero. Corsair, P-38, B-25. B-17 and still would like to get the P-39 and the C-202, and the P-40. Don't know for sure wether I will ever be able to get the rest of these kits or not but I sure hope so I also have a HP200 kitted by Wings and it has a US41 engine with JR radio gear.

From: Bay Area, CA,
I got back from vacation and found the At-6 waiting for me.
The only two complaints I have is that the fuse bottom is not cut correctly and the leading edge of one wing is crushed in a bit.
The fuse bottom (F15?) It's off on one side I think I can trim it up and it should fit. If not I will just pick up a new piece of balsa and cut it to size.
The wing looks like an easy fix.
I purchased the 46fx last night and will be ordering the gear today. I can't decide between the Hobico mechanical or the Great Planes mechanical gear.
Anyone have an opinion one way or the other?
Thanks!

Really?
I hear that they are quit business and just assumed that I would be out of luck.
I will give it a shot.
I called them and told them about the wing leading edge. They walked me thought the fix for the foam core.
I will give them a call and see what they suggest.
Thanks!
