Well, I just finished tearing into my almost finished Somethin' Extra to replace the supplied pushrods with Golden Rods. The supplied material was really dragging and too soft (finally stripped out). The Golden Rods are working a 1000x better. Anyone else run into this?

I never use the tube in tube type pushrods myself. They expand and contract too much with heat changes which in turn causes trim changes. Instead, I use the solid wire variety for the elevator and pull-pull cables for rudder.
But, yes, the pushrods included with the kit do drag quite a bit which will cause a lot of centering issues and unwanted drag on the servo.

Did the exact same thing. I didn't even attempt to install the original pushrods. They bound up while completely straight on the outside of the plane. What would have happened once they went into the fuselage? Golden Rods are the way to go in this case.

I used the standard, supplied pushrods with my Sig 4 Star 60. They work BUT they do expand and contract rather severely with the weather. With my Somethin' Extra I used Sullivan's red Gold n' Rods right from the getgo. 3 full seasons flying and no fuss at all, and rarely do I require a trim change.

Now there's something ironic. I have been working on my 4*60 (the tank plug shrunk over the winter) and turned on the plane to check the neutral settings for my elevator and rudder. Both were way off center and I had to correct. I used the nylon rods on this plane (mostly because I didn't know any better) and both control surfaces were off to the direction that would indicate shrinkage in the rods. The cold wx we have been having must have been the culprit, and here I couldn't figure out why my programming had changed so much. Now I know.
