Hello,
I friend just gave me a Midwest "Mach 1" pattern plane that he picked up at an estate sale approximately 10 years ago. I don't know how long it had been sitting prior to that.
Basically, it is a .60 size, 62" wingspan pattern ship with Foam Core Wings and Stab. Unfortunately, there is only 1 sheet of plans with the fuse on it, and no instruction book or any directions on what to do with the foam wing, etc. It looks like it was started briefly, as the left and right fuse sides look assembled (albeit poorly). I'm not sure if all the parts are there, as I can't find a parts list!
Does anyone know anything about this style of plane, such as its history, is it a good flyer, any characteristics, info on building, etc? Also, if anyone has access to the full set of plans and instruction manual, and is willing to make me a set or sell them, it would be a huge help!

The Mach 1 is a 70's pattern plane. It is a fast smooth flyer for it's time and well thought of. Any .60 sized 2-stroke on a muffler will fly it very well, but a piped .60 will make it fly great. Sorry, I don't have any plans or instructionsfor this model. Check with Midwest. They might have a set in their archives they would be willing to send to you.

I had two of these airplanes, they fly great, I had one with retracts and the other with fixed gear, there is a lot of carving in one of these, dont be shy about removing wood, this airplane was one of the top pattern planes in its day, it was one used by the USA teams NORM PAGE If I remember correctly. I have a friend who has two of them in the box, Ill check with him and see if I can get what you need

Yup, Norm Page designed the Mach One back in 1971. He won the 1972 Masters, Tangerine, and Southwestern Championships with the design. The construction article was featured in the June 1973 issue of Model Airplane News. You can still get the plans from them for just $19.95. Just go to www. rcstore.com and search for plan #FSP06733.

Hello,
I don't know how old your post was on the Mach I but just wanted to ask you if you finished it. I also have one in the box. Maybe we can
help each other. Mike [email protected]
