RE: Super Sportster 90/120
I have both an old Kaos 40 and a SS 90/120. The jump to a Kaos is a lot bigger than the SS. The SS 90/120 is a nice flying airplane and the size compared to a Kaos 40 is intimidating but actually the SS is easier to fly. Twenty years ago it would have been one of the biggest planes at the field. I have 22 flights on mine using an OS 120 Surpass 4 stroke with pump. I haven't seen any flutter problems but it is not over powered. I put a Hitec 475 servo on each elevator half. The only problem is that even though the CG is correct it has a tendency to nose over on landing. Have to be careful though about putting in up elevator to hold the tail down. With a 10 MPH wind and the plane barely rolling on the ground, too much up will cause the plane to take off again.

RE: Super Sportster 90/120
So 2 months have gone by and Im still worried about taking my SS up. I have flown the kaos with no problems at all for well over 3 months. I have 2 other planes sitting there almost ready to be taken up, a great planes venus II and a hangar 9 at-6. And i dont know why im so worried about stepping up. Im sure this plane (SS 90/120) will fly better then the kaos and i might even be able to see it alittle bit better too. But i might take the Venus up monday night only because i got that cheap and didnt really have to work on it.

I fly the 60 sized and have several friends with the 120 sized. I see no difference in flying other than the 120 appears a little easier to handle. They both fly 40cc engines on theirs. When you do fly it, you'll wonder why you were so concerned. Its really is a nice and easy flying plane. The only thing that can hurt you is if its built wrong, cg, incedence, what have you. But even that is hard to screw up. This is a pretty old established design thats been around a long time. The numbers are right on in the directions.

RE: Super Sportster 90/120
anybody that built this kit......did you install the engine with zero thrust as the plans say......or did you add a couple of degrees of right thrust.? i this plane that somebody gave me already built and am going to put the os 1.2 surpass on it. looking at an online manual it states install the engine at zero thrust and i've never built one with no thrust before......just wondering what you guys did.

RE: Super Sportster 90/120
thanks edwin. can anybody tell me on the 120 size how far back from the leading edge the landing gear is for the taildrager version. i stripped all the covering off this one to beef up the tailfeathers and make some other small changes and want to convert it from the tricycle gear and want to install some hardwood blocks in the wing. thanks
