With that .91 up front I'd suggest getting some sort of clearance from NASA!

Mine. This year will be its 4th summer. Its had a couple oopses, but nothing major other than a midair where it killed a GP Cap and a spectular looking wing-rubberband failure, both during its first summer. Irvine 53 for power. 12-4 or 12-5 props. 3/4" added to the rudder. The little graphic just forward of the canopy is for the Cap that that flew into me while I was hovering - he lost his tail while I lost an aileron and a good chunk of one wing panel.

Here is a picture of my new kit built SE.
Nothing out of the ordinary except for the flap/aileron arrangement.

OS46SF power and a 12.25x3.75 in. APC propeller
JR NES-511 servos in the fuselage. Hitec 225 servos in the wing. 7 servos in all.
All up weight: 5 lbs (somewhat dissapointing)

I have split the ailerons at about midspan in order to be able to use flaps and ailerons independently of each other. I have used mixers in my JR 388 Tx in order to obtain:

- Flaps (with or without drooping ailerons)
- Crow (ailerons deflects upwards, while the flaps deflect downwards with some elevator mixed in to compensate for pitch changes)
- Aileron-flap mixing (I like really slow rolls so I probably do not need the flaps to operate as aileron surfaces but I will try it anyway)
- Elevator-flap mixing (up elevator deflects the flaps downward and vice versa)

Also I choose to use pinned hinges instead of flex hinges and a DuBro tailwheel bracket instead of the one supplied with the kit.

As soon as the weather turns better (presently there is a lot of rain) I will get some descent pictures and submit a flying report.

Very nice looking plane. Very clean. Can you show the bottom of the aircraft? I'll be interested to hear how it flys.

Would you guys recomend this for a second plane? It would be my first real kit, i tried making a wing for a dazzler from scratch, but it didn't work out. I've been looking for a good low wing and from what you guys are saying its pretty nice.
Thanks for your help,
Joe

The SE would make a good second plane. The great thing about them is that it can be as tame or wild as you want. Go for it[8D]Pete

Thanks again,
Joe

An 11X4 is a great place to start. Lots of thrust and lower top speed -- just right for your second plane...

i have heard of some problems with the engine cutting out inverted because the clunck in the tank gets to the top of the take before the gas does and it puts air bubbles in the line, or it could be the clunk is stuck at the bottom of the tank, and all the fuel goes to the top?

Here are a few pics of my SE. It is covered in Solartex and painted with Latex paint. I mounted the engine sideways and constructed a balsa cowl. I have about 25 flights on it. It's a great performer.

Here is mine. It has a monokote covered fuse with ultracote on everything else. This was my first kit. It was easier than I thought it would be. I'm debating on whether I should put the tail braces on. I have an irvine .53 on it. That should pull it around pretty good.

Zetor,
By all means put the tail braces on. If you built it per instructions then you cut away about 1/2 of the trailing edge balsa that runs the length of the vertical stab to the fuse bottom significantly weakening it. This was done to make room for the rod connecting the elevator halves. With the Irvine 53 any violent snaps can snap the stab off. Remember "A stitch in time saves nine"

5 LBS with 7 servos? What did you do to save weight? Where did you take it from?
