[img][/img]I'm trying to decide between the two and not sure which way to go. I've owned 60 size Extra's and Edges, and this would be my first bipe for a winter project. I like to hot dog around and do pattern manuvers with a little 3-D mixed in. Looking at kit quality, flight qualities, and wow factor. I know a lot has been written about these two, but still undecided. Any comments?

Love the Hog Bipes.......easy to build fun to fly......with a OS .70 flys on the wing....with a .91 will do anything your thumbs can think of doing.
move the cg back a bit and watchout!

I had to make the same decision, but I was looking at the Super Skybolt as well as the Hog and Ultimate. I talked with a few people right here on RCU and decided on the Ultimate. The Ultimate should be more responsive and capable of more manuvers than the Hog. I believe the wing profile is thinner than the Hogs, and the control surfaces should be able to "throw it around" better. The Hog is more for barnstorming, and while it too sounds like an outstanding plane, I got the impression it would not be quite as capable of aerobatics as the Ultimate.
The Ultimate can easily handle up to a 1.20 4-stroke, and with it's light wing loading should be awesome. The Hog is said to need no more than a .91 4-stroke. In addition to the flying attributes, I didn't like the open cheek design of the Hog compared to the sleek cowl of the Ultimate.
I have heard that the Hog is a great "first" bipe, but after comparing all else, I voted for the Ultimate. I have a YS 1.10 to install in mine, and I'm just waiting for the time to assemble it. Maybe my next spring it will be in the air.
Either plane I'm sure will make you happy, but decide which power plant you'd like to use first. That may sway your decision as well.

While I have not experienced the Ultimate, I do own a Hog Bipe. The Hog is one of the easiest planes I have ever flown. Yet, it will get wild when I feel froggy. I think it seems underestimated here, just a touch, but the powerplant is the key. The two bipes in question are only similar in that they are bipes. They have very distinct design differences that give each it's own flight personality.

Yes the Hog is such a fine flier but it's is not design for 3D, 3D is not only hanging the plane from the prop, it's also Harriers, parachutes, waterfalls, etc.; and that is no ground for the Hog, I love mine don't take me wrong, but If I want to do 3D I use a Big Stik(sorry is the closer to a 3D plane I own).
