I know this probably sound like a stupid question but how do you seal hinge pin gaps.also,how do you get old metal hinge pins off without breaking anything.

Get your self some clear covering, run it along the top and bottom of the gap and seal. Make sure you turn the part to it's extreme (all the way up and then down).
As to old hinge pins, just cut the plastic off below the pin and rehinge.

YOU JUST HAVE TO PUT IT ON THE BOTTOM TO DO THE JOB. THIS WILL SAVE YOU SOME TIME.ALL IT DOES IT STOP THE AIR FROM GOING THROUGH GAP.
I HAVE BEEN USING THIS METHOD FOR MANY YEARS WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS.
