RE: Good covering jobs!
Nothing special about this Super Sportster, although it was my first two tone Monokote without using trim strips. Cutting the curved pieces of blue and yellow, to have just a 1/4" overlap required first making templates from manila folders. The templates then made cutting the Mono easy. Wood was filled with Balsarite and talcum powder, sanded to glass smooth before covering. Mono was stretched extremely tight before shrinking, exposed to extreme temp changes here with no sags or wrinkles.
A few extra touches include removable hatch and cockpit for access to all innards (upright) without removing wing. The cockpit is lined with real leather, light calf skin and pebbled black pigskin for the rest. Canopy is fastened with tiny optical screws from my Optical manufacturing days, into a hand made plywood coaming strip.
Blocks/controls were added for both Trike and Taildragger, can be converted in about 15 minutes, looks good either way. Removable cowling is hand balsa layered/carved. All fuse top surfaces stick and plank, required making custom formers. Curved solid surfaces are fun to cover.
I spent over 5 years building this plane due to ranch work pressures. I flew it a few times then hung it up for display. Very simple scheme, but I like the flowing lines. It looks fast just sitting still.

Great Planes Super Skybolt: It is covered with Monokote White, Neon Green and Silver. I apologize for the picture quality the green looks lime not neon and the silver disappears. I can assure you though the plane really stands out in person. I installed the pilot to butter up ''Headquarters'', maybe I can get a new plane next Christmas...

GP 330L (R.I.P.) I worked real hard on this one and about a month later it got shot down
The EDGE is a lanier 40% that I covered for a guy. Pictures of it actually made it to RC Flyer Top Gun coverage. (gave me a big ego, HeH Heh!)
As of right now I only used monokote.

RE: Good covering jobs!
Here's my first covering job! It originally was a solid, dark blue Super Aeromaster that I bought from a flying buddy after moving up from my trainer (I can't imagine how he could see it). I took off some of the blue and replaced it with red and white. I went with the Marine color scheme in honor of my son-in-law currently in Okinawa.

This is my Great Planes Ultra Sport .60, powered with an OS 90 4-stroke. The airplane is virtually stock except I made a faring to cover the engine. It's held in place by a hidden screw behind the spinner.
The airplane is covered with Monokote, including the following colors: Neon Yellow, Neon Red, Neon Green, Dark Red, White, Black, and Sky Blue. The "graphics" are hand-cut and applied with an iron.

This is my first covering job. It turned out pretty good, monokote is not the monster everyone makes it out to be. Although pretty basic I think it looks good. We call it El Colombiano, by accident I covered it like the columbian flag.

RE: Good covering jobs!
Here are some pics of my first kit build and covering job. It's my second plane. Covering is UltraCote deep red for the main color, carbon fiber kevlar for the wing tips, turtle deck, and vert stab tip, and 2" yellow and black ckeckers for the underside of the wing. For a first attempt I am very pleased with how it turned out and much easier than I thought it would be.
