I am just starting on building a top flite T-34 mentor gold edition kit. this is my first build and would like to hear some advice on putting this together. my money situation is not too good right now so im wondering if i could install the wire landing gear and later change it so i can use retracts. what do people use for the lights on this plane? any advice to help me acheive a successful buld would be appreciated. thanks paul

I have not built this kit, however I think I can awnser the retract question. Typically speaking building the wing now with the wires would lead to a major redo later to install the retracts. The wires are on one solid block and the wing rib doublers are different. For retracts, they are mounted on rails and use different wing rib doublers. The conversion after the fact can be done, but it is a lot of work. If you are saving your money to buy some retracts in the future, build the wing with the retract setup and install some pull strings for the tubing and you will be good to go when the money gets right. There are some threads going on the T-34, just do a forum search in the scale and warbird forum. Thanks Dave

thanks for the advice i will go with the air retracts for this plane and not even consider the wire junk that is supplied with it. not worth building the kit then later having to do some serious work. if im going to build it i may as well do it right from the start
