Default Sig 4 star 40 throws?

I'm in the process of buying a used Sig 4 star 40. I was wondering if any of you guys that have built one know what the low and high throws are? Hopefully somebody kept the instruction book. Also what the CG would be, I do have a Great Planes CG machine which is easier for me to use since I'm new to this sport. So if you guys could help me out I would appreciate it. Thanks JT

The Sig instructions are:

Elevator 1/2" up, 1/2" down
Rudder 1" left, 1" right
Ailerons 5/8" up, 1/2" down

Balance Range - between front edge and rear edge of main wing spar (about 3" from leading edge of wing)

Thanks Tim, Are these are the high rates or low rates? I'd like to know the low rates so I can use them the first few flights. Thanks ,JT

JT,

These are the only throws listed in the instructions.
You should do ok with them, and then adjust to suit your needs after you get a few flight in.

My throws are set:
Elevator 3/4" up - 3/4" down
Rudder 1" left - 1" right
Ailerons 3/4 up - 5/8 down

Good luck,
Tim

JT,
You will be able to see and feel the main wing spar about 3" from leading edge. Balance somewhere in-between, the middle of, to the front of, that spar.

If you have flown taildragers before, you should be alright. However, the rudder is very quick to steer on the ground at the recommended setting of 1"

It is very easy to fly and an excellent choice for a first low wing airplane.

Tim
