Build it per the plans. I built mine per plans except for taller gear and it flies great! It never fails to gather a crowd after I do KE from downwind, KE turn to base, KE turn down the runway, then KE turn to crosswind and then back to down wind at pattern altitude. Then they all shake their heads in disbelief when they see my stock rudder.
And that's is using a clapped out O.S. .46FX -- I cannot wait for my new Irvine .53 to arrive! 
Tinker if you want to, but not because of any perceived short comings with this kit. There simply aren't any IMHO.

If you want to extend the rudder 1", install the servos in the tail, install longer legs or taller tires, and bolt on a Saito .72/w13" prop you will have IMO one of the best flying 40 size planes at your field.

A senior member in the club I joined built one with a .61.. Seems to be a lot of fun, anyone else try this, I am thinking about building one too, what tail wheel do you guys suggest I replace the stock one with?
