Default What Size Pilot In 4* 60?

I am trying to find a pilot figure to put in a Sig 4* 60. The Hangar 9 pilots look nice and are resonably priced. But what scale pilot will fit in a 4* 60 and look right? They have 1/3 scale all the way down to 1/10 scale. Thanks.

either 1/5 or 1/6, and I'm inclined to believe 1/6. It really comes down to how it looks to YOU, and what will fit, of course. I tend to think that guys eyeball it and choose a pilot that is too small. The four star is a homebuilt lookalike to me, so imagine what a full size pilot looks like sitting in that plane if it's about ready to take off... I like the Williams brothers stuff, and did my 4Star 40 with a scarf and goggles type. He's 1/6 I think and I think he looks pretty good in there. Maybe yours is 1/5, to think about it. Sorry my answer isn't more definite.

Tower Hobbies web site recommends 1/5 scale.

Thanks guys, I'll go with the 1/5 scale, like Tower Hobbies recommends. However, I think on the ARF Four Star 60 Tower recommends 1/6 scale. Oh well, I'd rather go big than small. I'm sure it will look great either way. Also, why isn't anything from Williams available? It looks like good stuff.

Williams Bro not avail? From who? My local shops have 'em. They're unpainted and they come in kind of a pink type plastic. I bought a testor paint set from WalMart and painted mine, then covered him in finishing resin. Looks good and he is fuel proof. I also cut up my canopy to make more of a windshield/open cockpit style. I'd like to have a buck for every guy who did a 4 Star and kit bashed it! BTW, in my humble opinion, there is life beyond Tower. Lot of companies out there with the same stuff the Evil Empire in Champaign carries.

PS...here's a photo of my daughter with my 4 Star. (She got home from church, hence the fancy getup...) Photo is a year or two old.

Here's my pilot on my 4*60. Made him out of a bobble head doll off of e-bay.

World Models sells three pilots. I bought the middle size one. He looks like he might be from the Orient but he's the right size.

Enjoy,

Jim
