Epoxy LT-40 fuse
Well, finals are finally over and its back to the LT-40. I have got the fuse completely assembled, less the glue. The instructions call for the fuse to be assembled with rubber bands before adding glue. Its all put together and ready to glue at this point.
Here's my question:
I have read that it is best to epoxy the firewall into place to give extra strength on a high stress joint such as this. However, the instructions call for CA on the entire fuse, including the firewall. I'd like to epoxy everywhere I should to ensure a really strong body. Since the fuse is already assembled (with the rubber bands), should I just brush the epoxy along the joints? Will it soak in sufficiently?
Should I epoxy only the firewall and then go with the recommended CA for the rest of the fuse joints?
Basically, how would you recommend that I go about glueing the fuse?
Thanks.

RE: Epoxy LT-40 fuse
The best thing to do is follow the instructions. The firewall is keyed into the fuselage sides. It can't go anywhere. You'll pick up extra strength in the nose when you fuel proof the firewall and the fuel tank compartment.

RE: Epoxy LT-40 fuse
just my way of doing thigs but I would epoxy the firewall. Spread the fuse apart and brush some epoxy into the slots and on both edges of the firewall, also agree with the tri stock but I use front and back.

RE: Epoxy LT-40 fuse
I don't get why I would glue tri stock to the back of the firewall. Doesn't make sense. Can you explain why this is and give me some more detail on how this is done.
Thanks.
Thanks.

RE: Epoxy LT-40 fuse
The try stock incresses the glue serface area. It reinforces the firewall to fuse side joint. One other place that should be reinforced is where the verticle fin is atatched to the top of the fusalage. A piece of 1/4" trystock on both sides. After about a year the top of my fuse cracked and the vertical fin was flopping side to side. I removed the fin and epoxyed it and the try stock back on. Had no ferther problems.
