Default Venture mods

I am getting ready to start my venture ,I would like to know what mods you have done and what ones worked or are so so.Did you use the stock stuff, like control rods fittings etc.. I am thinking of putting the rud and elv servos in the fuse near the back.good or bad?how is the balance here?I have built a few 4*60's so I would think they are similar.

I would build the Venture very closely to the plans... Mine was built stock and needed less than an oz of tail weight with an OS 61FX so I think tail mounting servos is a bad idea... The only mod I would make is to convert to using two aileron servos. Mine had a single aileron servo and it worked okay, but flaperons give more travel... Another mod that some do is to shorten each wing by one rib bay. Notice these mods are mere suggestions -- a per plans built Venture is very good as is...

Mine balanced fine w/ a Saito 80 and the servos mounted per the plans. Shortened the wings 1 bay per side, made a cowling for the engine, 2 aileron servos and slid the canopy back 1 3/4" for good looks. Fantastic kit!

Thanks,I was leaning toward stock. What kind of hinges did you use,ca or real hinges?Did you sheet the turtle deck?I have a real stump puller MDS 68 that is a gem to put on it,should make a hot rod out of it.

Check out my Venture thread. Used 'real' Great Planes hinges and stringer turtle deck.

CA hinges are fine, but I too would use real hinges. I've standardized on using DuBro nylon hinges, Pacer hinge glue, and full length music wire hinge pins. The music wire seals the gap and allows the control surface to be easily removed.

I used the kit supplies pushrods and they were fine. You can substitute Dave Brown fiberglass tubes or build in Golden Rod type pushrods if you prefer... Mine was totally plans built and it was great! (I've since sold it, but I'm sure its still flying well...)
