Hi All,
I have two GP PT-40 that i have been flying with OS.46 FX and ThunderTiger .46 Pro. The enigne combination for both the planes is perfect, and i have a very good time flying these.
However i am planning to take out the .46 FX ( to put on a CG Tiger 2 ) , and put a spare .40 OS LA.
How do you think that the PT-40 and OS .40 LA combination would be ?
Do i need to take out the baffles to get the required power ?
How does the PT-40 perform with this engine.
Thanks for all your comments

Well, I learned on a PT 40 with an OS 40 FP, and it had enough power to keep me happy. WIth the LA it won't fly with any where near the authority of a 46 though.
Depends I guess. If you were happy with the performance with a 46, you might not be with the 40 LA.

I think you will find the .40 LA excellent as power for a trainer. Over and over, I see well meaning people counsel newbies to put a .46 on their trainer so they will have the more powerful engine for the "next" airplane, not because the trainer requires it. That'e exactly where you are now, isn't it? Putting the .46 on the Tiger 2. Thats a good next step. Do put the .40 LA on the trainer, it doesn't have the power of the .46, however it does have good power to fly the trainer. 2 suggestions I have for the 40LA: use an APC 11.5X4 prop, and drill out the muffler exhaust tube to 6mm. I think you will like it.
