Any one have any experience with this kit? Thinking of a OS52 or 70 for power. Kit description doesn't memtion "preformed windscreen or side windows". That could be a problem. Also, is the landing gear two piece? That could be a problem too. Thanks for any input.

I built one years ago, builds into a nice plane. It's a builders kit though, it has alot of parts for a plane this size. The windshield is cut out from flat acetate plastic, the instruction book has the pattern in it and is easy to cut out and install with tape and canopy glue. The landing does not pose to many problems either. The O.S. 52 is a good choice, I have one nib and plan to use my Saito 56 in it.I think the hardest part was shaping and building the wing struts, they are funtional and are made out of hard wood.Build it straight if you get one and you will be rewarded with a nice flying plane.

You can read a Sig Citabria kit review on this site:
http://webpages.charter.net/rcfu/
Just ignore the "Can't loan loan page", let it load for a while and then click on Kit reviews on the left side. Find Sig Citabria and there you have it.

luck was mine that I was in the LHS the other day and enquired about decathlon / citabria kits. the owner told me to take a look in the far left corner. I now have a half built sig citabria waiting to be picked up (at a much cheaper price than new, built by a bloke who knows his stuff too). what I wanna know is, does the wing on this detach for transport? just that I got a small car and space is an issue. I will probably be powering it with a YS 63 if I can afford it , otherwise a saito 65. also can I build the servos into the wing? the citab is my favourite civillian aircraft...

Hi Shoom, yes the wing does detatch for transport, I hauled mine in a small Dodge two door hatch back. You should be able to mount servos in the wing in place of the bellcrank mounts.A Y.S .63 will be way more power than this plane needs, but it's nice to have the power available, good luck .Steve.

Hi Steve - that is actually the name of the owner of my LHS heh. well your car is not as small as mine - a 1968 datsun 1000 . I don't believe they came out in the US but they only weigh 640kgs and since I dropped in a worked 1500 it embarrases 6 and some 8 cylinder drivers at the lights! anyway, I want to keep the citabria for a long time and take it out for sunday flights regularly. so I think the YS wouldnt be overwhelming, it is designed to be aerobatic anyway. we'll see how bad the exchange rate is affecting engine prices tomorrow
btw what is an alternative to sig koverall? I dont think my shop can get it in!

Hi Shoom, you could cover it iron on plastic coverings such as Ultracote or Monocote, or if you want a fabric look supercoverite, Coverite prepainted iron on fabric, S**** lite fabric and paint.
