I have a Goldberg Chipmunk that I stripped down and am refinishing in the Art Scholl scheme
First; anybody know where I can get replacement decals for this aircraft to replace all of the originals?
Second; I plan on using monokote for the white and ultracote for the blue. For the red stripes on the wings and vertical fin I plan on painting them on. Anybody know what the dimensions are for the red stripes - width, and also the space from the blue (1/4"?)
Thanks for the help,
Frank

I am doing the same thing. The decals can be purchased from www.carlgoldbergproducts.com. There are two sheets, they are $9.95 each. They charge a flat $11.99 for shipping, so you might want to pickup a few extra items. I'll probably get a new canopy for mine, as the previous owner painted the one I have.
As for the stripes, I'm not sure, but I think I saw 7 red stripes per wing on the photo I saw of one of the real ones. My wing is 29" from fuselage side to end of wing (not counting wingtip). Alternating would mean 14 stripes. This would mean each stripe is just a hair over 2". Looks like there is about 1/4", perhaps an 1/8th" space from the red to the blue.
I'm doing mine in all monokote. Missle Red, Insignia Blue, and Jet white. Good luck with your project! Mine will have flaps and a Saito .91 on the front.

Plans say
1 5/8 on the fin and rudder
1 13/16 on the wing
I fudged a little on mine
I got my Penzoil decal a little too forward and too high. Beware of doing that. I think there is some optical illusion with the wing off that makes people do that. It seems rather a common mistake.

I left a white gap between the red stripes and the blue on the wing
And I left a small white space between the red stripes and the fuselage.
And I left the belly white.

Thanks for the replies!!
Some other changes I am making:
- one servo for each aileron (I already have flaps from previous)
- pullpull on the rudder
- elevator servo mounted at the tail for shorter linkage or, leave it where it is and use a carbon fibre pushrod with good hardware on either end
- 91 FS mounted inverted (probably a TT 91)
- I think I will pull out the old cockpit (not happy with the way it turned out) and redo it using light balsa for the sides, floor and seat. Then add details like an instrument panel etc.
- reinforce the landing gear mount blocks.
I am excited to give this great airplane a "freshining up" and new lease on life!

some great pics on show here!
...Im also on a re-vamp - due to an earlier then expected landing!
Elevator servo has just been re-located to the rear - as I had some pitch 'twitches' when in steep dives - so decided to beef-up the elevator links. The rear weight of the servo will offset the Enya 90-fs up front.... & give me more options with gear placement.
....and the pilot has been 'removed'
..just need to fix up the wing

Starz,
I have the Enya 80 FS for mine. I am hoping hat will be enough power being that it turns a
13 x 6 or a 12 x 8 prop no problem.
What is your opinion on that?

I have a ST 75 turning a Bolly 12.5 x 6 this combination suits my flying style, and the chippy very well.
Cheers,

I am just covering my GB Chipmunk, wings done, started the body. I added a fillet at the wing saddle. I worked out the wing stripe mathmatically and came up with 1 13/16, lol.. guess I should have read the manual better. I am using a OS 90 two stroke. engine fits about the same but the pitts muffler really cut into the cowl on both sides. I did all of the typical upgrades, pull pull, elevator servo in the tail, two airleron servos and upgraded the landing gear mounts to maple.
I have never seen a good picture of the underside.. I am assuming it is all white, but what about the bottom of the horizontal stab? Red or white?
Best regards,
Randy

Hi bluestratos,
From the attached, (I hope), image it appears that the underside of the empenage is red flowing from the stripe at the base of the fin.
Cheers,
Colin

Sorry,
Despite getting a message the images have uploaded successfully they arn't[>:].
I hope someone else can send an image but the one I have of Art flying the Super Chippy whilst standing on the wing shows at least the underside of is solid red flowing from the previously mentioned stripe at the root of the fin.
Cheers,
Colin
