I had one and may it RIP!!!![&o] I also had the 4*40 and of the 2 I liked the Mid Star 40 more as it was more responsive on the controls. I kept mine as a tri cycle gear and built it totally stock and loved it and you will also as it's a great flyer.

The Midstar is a straight forward easy to build model. I built mine as a tail dragger. (The plans show you where to mount the landing gear block for either configuration. It's a simple matter of swapping the positions of the block and some sheeting.) I also built my wing with dual aileron servos, mounted in hatches. Not necessary, but I wanted to try it.

The only improvement I can recommend, would be to reinforce the vertical stab. The vertical stab is just glued to the top of the horizontal stab. Mine lasted that way for a long time, but eventually worked loose. I added some tri-stock to reinforce the joint. And for good measure, I added more tri-stock to where the horizontal stab meets the fuselage.

I'm no accomplished pilot, but I hold my own. That being said, I enjoy flying various forms of Cuban 8's, flat spins, side slips, hammer heads or stall turns with my Midstar. And now that I've reinforced the tail, I'm performing more knife edges. It doesn't knife edge as well as my Aresti did, but it will do them. I'm using an OS 52 FS for power. I keep wondering what it would do with my OS 70 FS in it, and maybe the wing tips clipped off!

Great flyer, good kit. Also built mine as a tail dragger.
I flew it with an OS 48 Surpass, then installed a GMS 47, can't believe I still have a picture. There is another thread around recently that I posted to as well. Try finding it, may get more info!
