Default Where To Put Switch For Sig SE???

I was wondering where other Sig SE kit builders mounted the power/battery switch? I am having one hell of a time tyring to figure where to put the little bugger and I'd like to get this kit finished up before Spring is over.

Any help would be appreciated (and pics would be great tooo),

I mounted mine just above the wing on the left side of the fuselage. Take a look at the attached pic and you can see where mine is. To mount it there I had to carve a little bit out of the hatch so it would close down over the switch.

Hope this helps

Crash Master, I put mine below the wing and maybe a little too far back, I was trying to avoid interferance getting the battery under the fuel tank. It's on the LHS of course. I used the Dubro switch w/o a charging jack since it's easy to take off the canopy to check the battery and rubber band. BTW, I went to the Home Depot/Lowes and picked up several sizes of springs, so I hold the wings together w/ a spring and a fresh rubber band each time....never a problem even after plenty of "too many to count per second" rolls. I hope you built it light and added some to the rudder.

I'll throw some pic at you.

Mac

Mount the switch inside the fuse and then run a stiff wire to pull or push on. I used a Dubro switch mount and utilized the steel rod and knob that comes with it. I could post a pic if you like?

Like MacDaddy, I mounted mine underneath the leading edge of the left wing.

On mine, I used a 2 piece switch. The switch itself, I positioned just above the left wing and below the canopy hatch. The charging jack is just in front of the wing on the lower left side. If you enlarge my picture I think you can see both pieces. The one under the wing is hard to find, but it is there, look in the green part just under the checkerboard pattern.

Some good ideas on placing the switch. I'm going to have to see which one works out best. I guess Sig didn't give the switch placement a whole lot of thought. [:'(]

Thanks,

I have done it both like connery and dbruening80. I did the latter on my first, kit-built SE that had an OS 46 two stroke. This is NOT recommended if you're running a fourstroke, since the crankcase vent overflow usually spreads oil all along the bottom of a model. Of course, if you're running a new OS "Enviro-Nazi Special", that's not a concern...

Below (next post; I keep forgetting you cannot post pics in the Fast Reply box) are two views of the way I've done it on two ARF SEs. You need to be careful when measuring, but this is the best place I've found to put it.

they have a cutout so you can mount a normal switch on each side however not ever switch has that simple of a mount! if you look at the top/front of the wing you will see what im talking about!

I used the [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJ778&P=ML]Great Planes switch and charge jack mount[/link] on mine, mounted under the forward area of the left wing. It has a thin profile and was an easy install.

I mounted mine on the bottom of the fuselage in the center just behind the landing gear.
charge jack stays inside under hatch.remove hatch to charge.keeps the sides clean looking.
no problems withit.
