Ok, I am now starting the tail section. However, when placing the 3/8 stock together it looks like on the plans they are stacking the ribs on top of the le and te. Or are they showing just one side and you got to do the same on the other side. Otherwise, how are they inserting dowels. If they are placing the ribs on each side of the le and te this would make a very thick tail it seems. All help here would be appreciated.

Its one side they are showing unless you want a really thick tail-feather. You should use a hollow punch the size your dowels, drilling makes a mess. what size engine you plan on useing . P.S.---Those Stingers take a lot of time to build , dont they!!

Im saw what you were talking about, I got most of the tail and fuse together. Yes, this is taking some time. Anyway, Im going to place a US 41 on the nose, Will that be enough for the plane.

Greetings! I dont have any specs on a US41. Whats your alttitude. I swapped-out my ST .91 to a Saito .100, much better performance. Reinforce wheel pants with thick fiberglass to mount them strong. My Stinger is excellent and darn near immaculate in finish, again , i wish i knew how to post photos on this site , i would send you a photo of it, done in an american flag scheme, its really sharp!!. Beef up your firewall with cut "45s". reply please, MjS Oops! , remember, my stinger is a 60 size!

The US 41 pulls this plane very well for sport flying. Watch letting it get nose heavy. I had to place the firewall 1 1/2" farther back than the plans to allow the the 4 1/2 pound engine. It balanced very nicely in that configuration.
I sheeted the tail with 1/16 balsa so it didn't need the external braces. About 100 flights and other than one hard landing which knocked the gear off, it's been great.

Wow, nice plane canman. Your 41 does ok on it huh. Were you able to install your canopy so it can come off to change pilots. If so how did you mount it. Im almost done and if someone can tell me how to put in a pic I will.

The canopy is removable. I epoxied small (3/4") pieces of ply at several (8) locations under the fiberglass where canopy screws needed to be. Originally I used standard #2 screws with nylon washers, but have converted to the hex head servo screws now.
The US41 pulls 16 lbs around just fine for "sport" flying. Takeoff in under 10 feet, decent high speed runs (stingers are not fast) and plenty of power for loops, rolls and the sort of mild maneuvers I prefer. Vertical is definitely not unlimited, but it starts easy, idles low enough for landing, and burns real gas.
It's a great way to find out if you like giant scale and gas at the same time "on a budget". If money isn't a problem, I would buy either a quadra 400 or a ZDZ40. They would provide a lot more zip in the vertical with less weight.
I recently installed the Quadra 400xl in this plane. Much better performance (both power and weight).

Sounds great and thanks for the tip on the canopy. Did you leave the cowl off or did the US41 vibrate it off. Ive installed mine with blind nuts. I also installed the top and bottom together with blind nuts backed with scrap balsa. Thanks for replying.

The smoke picture is actually the first flight with it's Quadra 400, so it was off for all that first flight tweeking. The first picture shows it as it is now with a fiberglass specialities cowl. If you put fibergalss inside the kit's ABS cowl it will last about one season before it wears the mounting holes too large for any reasonable size screw.
It's a great plane, I'm sure you will enjoy it for many seasons.
