SIG stuff is awesome. I'm building a Somethin' Extra as my first kit, and I can't tell y'all how much I'm enjoying it. In the span of 2 days I have the wings finished and the tailfeathers built. Whee!
I'm thinking about covering it like TERMIGATOR's thread- American Flag style.
And tips or suggestions on covering technique would be greatly appreciated- I've never shrink-wrapped my own plane before.

I just finished mine and it is a nice little kit. I was concerned about the gas tank and having acess to it. If you use the suggested tank and trim the back of the tank mount shelf, the tank will slide in. Thaat way you do not have to sacrifice any structure to put a hatch in. Check out all of the threads on this bird.

A couple of other tips on the tank. Use duct tape to make a pull tab out of on the back of the tank. It'll make it easier to pull out. Do not glue in the card board wing tube. With the wings attached it will be held in place, but if you need to remove the tank you can just slide it out of the way.
I used termagators how-to to cover my last SE with a flag. It looks difficult at first, but after you get going it's really pretty easy. The only other tips I can give on covering is practice on some scrap wood first if this is your first time. Also, when you start covering just take your time.
Hope this helps

Excellent RCken, that is a great looking plane. Hope to see it in AMA one day.
Flycfii, make sure to check the Aluminum Wing Tube before flying!!!
In many kits the tube is too long and needs trimming 1/8" to 3/16".
If you do not, there will be a gap at the root. I suggest trimming and placing foam in the ends of each Tube End. This way the tube will not vibrate all over the place.
I added 1 inch to the Rudder with left over pieces. The balanced the plane at 4inches from the leading edge. Fly's Great.
