A couple of years ago, I was interested in building a Noorduyn Norseman. On the web, I found the bestNorsman model I have ever seen. It had a 103 wingspan and was about 28.5 lbs. The kit or plans were sold by Coastline R/C. At the time I talked to Murray Marley about the plane. He said that he was in the precess of redesigning the plane and the plans (or kit?) would be ready after 2001. I am now ready to build a big plane and wanted to do this Norseman but can't find the Coastline Radio Control Models site on the web any more. Do any of you know how I might contact Murray Marley about these plans?
Thanks all for your help. .

I'm not sure about the Coastline kit, but you may also consider the Unionville Hobbies Norseman.
I believe that they have different sizes of the plane available. Unionville Hobbies kits are generally considered to be builder's kits. I built the 6" Otter kit, modified it to be slightly more scale. Flies like a trainer.
Good luck with whichever way you go.

I think Ikon also makes a Norseman, either 1/5 or 1/6 scale; can't attest to kit quality, I've heard a lot both ways. I 've thought a couple of times about building one. It's not an overly pretty airplane, but it has the historical significance of being the type Glenn Miller ('40's bandleader) disappeared in, and I'm a huge fan of his music.

I have built the small Unionville Norseman and am currently building the 83" Unionville Norseman. But neither of these kits is constructed in a way that allows for true scale of the cockpit, etc. I have modified both kits to allow scale cockpits, and other features.
The Coastline R/C plane by Murray Marley was constructed almost exactly like the original plane . . . really true to scale. That is why I was and am interested.
I didn't know that Ikon made a Norseman. I will look that up. While some may not like the looks of the Norseman, its looks and its history are the reasons I like it. Also, one sees very few of these out on the flying field. I really like to have a "one of a kind" plane when I'm flying. Moreover, I am really getting tired of most of the current designs one sees out at the field.
