Default Hog Bipe or Ultimate?

I just crashed my Sig SE yesterday 3Ding too low. I've got a Saito 1.00 that is broke in waiting on me to complete my TF P-47. Until then I need another plane to fly. I thinking of either the Sig Hog or the CG Ulitmate. The 1.00 is at the very top of the scale for the Hog and right in the middle for the Ultimate. Any suggestions on pros and cons of each kit?

Sorry to hear about your SSE. (You weren't using the 1.00 on the SSE were you? That's a ton of motor for that plane [sm=spinnyeyes.gif]) If you're tendancy is toward 3-d and aerobatics, I would think the Ultimate would be the more capable of the two. But then you may have to go get the 1.20 . Somehow, I can't see the Hog doing 3-d very well...
Me??? I'm looking forward to the Super Skybolt kit in the closet.

No, I wasn't using it on the SSE lol. I originally had an OS .46LA and it just wasn't good enough. I put a Magnum .52 on it and she just screamed. Would do everything I wanted her to do. I'm thinking if I get the Ultimate, I'll put the Saito in it until I finish the P-47 and then get a 1.20 for it.

Hello; I have an Ultimate which I flew with an OS 91, then a Saito 91. I had a Saito 120 in it first, but took that out for the 91 I thought that the 120 made the plane too heavy to perform the slow stuff I like to do, but still gave good (enough) vertical performance. By the time I had it all working as I like it, I had done quite a few modifications to it. I have seen the hog bipe fly with a Saito 80, looked pretty good to me, but not as hairy-batic as the Ultimate. I guess it depends on what kind of flying you prefer. I would be glad to have either plane. That Saito 100 is an awesome engine, I have one in my Funtana 90, it would power the Ultimate just fine for me. We fly at sea level here.

From reviews that I have read, the Ultimate sounds harder to build than the sig kit, or one I was looking into, the Great Planes Ultimate. Will an OS .61 FX be enough power for this CG Ultimate?

I had pretty much made up my mind, but you guys confirmed it. Even the club trainer said that with the way I was flying my SE that I wouldn't be happy with the performance of the Hog. So I will be picking up the Ultimate. I will probably also work on repairing my SE as well. I only broke the fuseleage in half right at the start of the turtledeck, as well as knocked the front of the wingtip off one wing. So it should be an easy fix.

I have a Hog and it flies extremely well. Although it is not a 3D plane, it will perform any and all the pattern aerobatics a CG Ultimate will and is more stable doing it. Mine is powered with a Saito 100 and it will hover with little input to keep it there, just not much reserve for pulling out vertical. I have flown the CG Ultimate, flew one last Thursday with the same engine, the flight before it met the earth the final time. I'll stick with my Hog.

Goldberg's Ultimate needs at least .90 size 2 stroke engine. I just can't wait to get this kit already!!!

So your saying that a Magnum 1.08 2 stroke should power the Ultimate well then.

Very nice looking Ultimate Chuckar. The engine installation looks very clean. Just curious though why you chose to mount the engine at a 90degree rotation instead of totally inverted?

I just made it like the plans on the YS version just the valve cover sticks out on the OS 1.08 version the complete head is hanging out you could go inverted I have had problems with inverted engines but what ever way you go it is a great plane good luck !!
