Default giles wing

im building a great planes giles 202.. it's my second kit build. i just finished framing the first wing half and now notice that when i sit it on a perfectly flat board, it is up at the tip about 1\16 of an inch. i am going to try to get it dead flat when i sheet the top of it after joining the two halves, if that doesn't work, i can try twisting it when i cover. now, if i were to fly the plane with a 1\16 inch warp in the wing, just how bad will this be? if need be, i will order new ribs and stuff and rebuild the wing, as i want this plane to be trimable.. and as precise as it can be. and this just plain bothers me.. i want it PERFECT!

If you can keep it straight and flat before you sheet it--you can, most likely, get that twist out.

Don't worry about it too much right now. The sheeting will probably fix it, if you can keep it flat whenyou glue the sheeting on.

If you can't get the twist out, after sheeting and covering--then your plane is going to fly just fine.

With the LE of one wing at a higher angle of attack, it will want to lift more on that side. Thats going to cause a roll to the opposite side. Hard to say how much.

You might not even notice it. I've screwed up worse than that before, and didn't even notice it when I flew the plane.

im going to have to rig up a strange jig and pin it down, checking the top for flatness. but i hoped just a 1\16 would not be the end of the world, even for a fairly precise airplane. (this is my first true aerobatic plane)
