Has anyone built the SIG 1/5 J3 Cub. I'm confused on the door and window, I think I built it according to the plans but it doesn't look right. The lip on the bottom of the window is on the outside and the lip on the top of the door is on the inside, the pictures in the manual show this also, but what holds the window closed during flight. I think it should have been reversed, then when you close the door and lock it it would hold the window closed. Am I missing something or doesn't the window have to be held closed? any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
So far the build has been great every piece is laser cut and fits together like a puzzle

It will stay closed when you have it covered. At least mine did... anyway, once the airplane is completely built and covered, and you have glued the door and window hinges in, the window should stay closed just from the friction with the top of the door. I usually leave my window open, though, because it just looks right. I put a small latch on the bottom of the right wing panel to hold it open, like the real J-3. Funny, but I remember thinking the same thing when I built mine a year and a half ago.

I also have the 1/5 Sig. Jeep is correct that as long as the door is a snug fit, it will stay closed, but it was irritating to me to have to pry it open whenever I needed inside (my switches are inside the cabin) so I loosened the fit some, and it flapped in the prop wash. I made a latch for mine that keeps the window closed whenever the door latch is engaged, and you can partly disengage the door latch, the window will open and door remain latched. I also made the same type catch to hold the window open against the bottom of the wing, it's just a piece of aluminum bent in a "Z" shape and screwed to the wing spar it pivots to catch the window and release it

Inset neodymium #1 size magnets work great also. Inset 5 or six magnets equally spaced along one flange and a small diameter piece of steel wire on the other.

Thanks for the information and tips. Any other tips or tricks for this build would also be great. After the build I usually think of better ways to do things, but that doesn't help during the build.
Thanks again to everyone that posted or that is going to post

What kind of landing gear are you using. the kit supplied, or a scale aftermarket? The scale gear really adds to the looks, and improves ground handling and landings, IMO it's worth the money if you're putting a lot of time in the build. Robarts and Wm. Wallace both make a nice set.
What covering? Koverall is beautiful, and if you don't want to put so much work into finishing, Solartex is great, too.
Since the wing struts are functional, I pinned them where the metal attachments fit into the slots, as well as following the instructions. Pin them before you wrap the ends with fiberglass and epoxy.
