Default No Lazy Bee kits to be found?

Well I wanted to start building a giant cessna skymaster kit, but, after running it past the wife, she thinks that over $300 for a 'box of wood' (her words lol) is a little much. So I started thinking of something a bit (whole lot) cheaper that I have wanted to do.. Then I remembered the ads for the Lazy Bee in the back of the RCM magazines I used to read. So I think to myself, Tower has GOT to have that kit! its a classic, right? Well it appears that I WRONG. They DO have an ARF 'kit', but I dont want an ARF! I want a box of sticks! Anyone know if someone out there has a storage unit full of old kits that might have one for sale? Anyone know if 'they' (who?) might be producing the kit again in the future?

Sorry GTMATTZ;
It looks like the Bee Hive has gone the way of the ARF. [:'(]

All of the BEEs that used to come in kits seem to have been replaced by the ARFs and a number of us BEEKEEPERS are not impressed!

The Solution is to find someone that has a set of plans and knows how to use a photocopier. Then you need a sharp Xacto knife and you start cutting...

Plan B. Google "PAGE AVIATION", owned and operated by Adrian Page out of his garage in Berwick, Nova Scotia, Canada. He has a great line of small AC that he sells in kit form, they are laser cut and go together VERY NICELY.

If you like the Ugly Duckling lines of the BEEs then I would recommend you look at the "NEWBEE" it currently sells for about $64.00 US and is SOOOO UGLY, it's cute.

Good Luck;
Bruce

Hello; Since it is a box of sticks, why not just buy a set of plans and do it yourself? That's what I did with my (ex) speedy bee. Actually I used the plans and instructions from RCM magazine, it built a great plane. I just wish I hadn't stepped on it.

Super!!

Then "BEE" happy!

Hopefully you will get a good set of plans along with it and you can create all the Bees that you want!

Keep in mind that there are several different BEEs out there, and they are all fun.

Hobby People has a "4-in-1" laser cut version coming for $59.99. It can be a 40" or 50" wing with or without ailerons. I think it's designed for electric or glow. It is item #222118. Do a Search on http://www.hobbypeople.net for Lazy Bee or the item number. I just placed an order for one last week. I was told that they are expecting to receive them in stock at about the end of February. I haven't done any previous business with HobbyPeople so I cannot vouch for their business practices or the Global kit quality. Any comments are welcome. I prefer plans or kit building versus ARF so I'm thinking positively.

They can also be contacted at:

Thanks for the tip on the existence (soon to be hopefully) of a Lazy Bee KIT. I tracked down Global Hobby's item # 222118 which is indeed the Lazy Bee 4 in 1 but I got a price of $89.99 not the #59.99 referenced for what it's worth. Regardless I excited to find a kit coming of the Clancy's Bee's again and will pursue the matter by phone tomorrow. Thanks again!

I am almost finished with my Lazy Bee (Box 'o Sticks) and must say that I have seen better design of most planes I've built.
Even so, I am very sorry to see the demise of the kit.
Last year I yearned to have a TF Smoke 40 and after watching e-bay for many weeks, I found one at a reasonable price. I recommend that you watch e-bay and you'll find one soon.

Do a search on google for lazy bee kit - looks like Peck Polymers still sells them, as well as some other places. Think I saw somewhere a few months ago that also sells the plans.
Bought a set of plans off ebay myself, as well as one of the big lazy bee kits with the 72" wingspan.

Might be interested in the float kit. I have one of the standard Clancy Lazy Bee kits waiting to be built and would love to put floats on it. Would it also fit on a Speedy Bee ARF do you think?
PM sent before they lock this thread.

I just came back from my hobby shop and decided to check out the kits in the basement. They have an original Clancy 60" span Lazy Bee kit for $76. Call Penn Valley Hobbies in Lansdale, PA at 215-855-1268.

Hello, Not sure if this thread is still read, but I have just inherited a Big Lazy Bee (72") kit (box of sticks), but I am wanting to be sure that all of the pieces are here before posting it for sale. Anyone have a parts list so that I can check? I believe it is a complete kit, drawings and all, but I want to be sure. Thanks for any help. I someone has a complete list of all the components that are to be in this kit, I can verify. Thanks for any help.

For what it's worth, there's a kit cutter that offers a Lazy Bee short kit - http://store.laser-design-services.c...ort=20a&page=4
