RE: What is your favorite kit building task?... your least favorite?
My favorite is solving those little technical problems that seem to come up periodically in every kit, installing the radio gear, and watching the airframe take shape.
My least favorite is anything that remotely resembles finish work - sanding, covering, installing hinges, etc. I'm certainly my own worst critic, but my planes never come out looking like the ones in the magazines.

Ok.. Im BOGGLED by the people who like hinging??? Do you like the pain?! LOL [sm=lol.gif]
Bet you can tell what my least favorite part is. I have to say of the whole process of building a kit the only close second to hinging as my least favorite was cutting the wing off of the plans [] I ran out of wax paper and the rest is easy to figure out...
Most favorite would have to be finish sanding. Its seeing the whole plane as an almost finished product and getting the small little bumps and corners smoothed out and ready for covering. It feels good to see your craftmanship closeup and how it all fits together before you cover it up.

Least fav.. mounting the engine (it's a one hour process that'll take me DAYS to do)
most fav.. I actually like sanding the model out. (removes all my glue goobers and other bits of ugliness)

Most favorite: Getting each piece true and square with the world, coming up with ways to ensure that the piece being mounted or the hole being cut will only need to be done once, standing back after cutting in wing mount holes and seeing that it not only measures correctly but also looks 'right'. Close second is the test flight, the day that the rubber meets the runway, and seeing what was a bunch of sticks and miscellaneous parts lift off and soar...
Least favorite: Building box spars and wing mount boxes! People don't even want to be around when I'm doing this - I don't even want to be around when I'm doing this!!! The joiners have to be in the box with wet glue, they always take massive force to remove which CAN result in a loose fitting box, which means slop in the wing mount - thus requiring building yet another box!!!!
Box spars and wing mount boxes = PITA !!!

Favorite Task- Everything but covering
Least Favorite- you got it , covering, I just haven't got the patience to do some of the fabulaous designs, so mine stay simple.

Fav: Buying the kit getting it home and looking at all the stuff, Glueing bits together, Used to hate putting radio gear in and setting it up but now I don't mind it. Looking at bits after they have been covered.
Least Fav: Sanding, shaping, putting crap platic cowles / wheel pants together, crashing new model on a test flight.

Least Fav: hinging (always a problem), painting (always make a mess), sanding and shaping balsa (too time consuming). Not too keen on cutting out cowls and canopies either.
Fav: Everthing else! but especially spending far too much time on the net looking for that next must have project.

I love the framing up of the plane and seeing it take shape but when it comes to covering I start to slow down and I come to an almost dead stop when it comes time to install the radio gear, EEWWWWW I hate installing radio gear!!!!!!

Most Fav: getting it all framed up.
Least Fav: covering it. I really hate covering it. I mean, I absolutely despise covering it. Maybe if I was halfway proficient at it, I might like covering it but I stink at it.
