Default BTE Flyin King and covering

I am just finishing framing up my BTE Flyin King and it is time to begin thinking of covering. I was going to do the traditional BTE 3 color scheme.

How many rolls of covering does this massive plane take? My best bet is get 5 rolls. Anyone ever use the Tower Cote? I know it is low temp and seems economical.

Tower Cote is a little thinner than Monocote or Ultra Cote

BTE Fly'n King takes four rolls plus to be safe, go to www.btemodels.com and get the whole story from his site.

I agree it can be done in 4 -- but I am going to end up using 5 plus 1 for trim color. I kinda did the BTE 3 color scheme.

BTE - Me
white = white
blue = purple
yellow = orange

plus I added some 1/8" black stripes

I really enjoyed building the kit.

A few details of my FK:

Taildragger with 6" foam main wheels
Polished main HD landing gear -- (not mirror finish but nice)
mini servo for tailwheel steering
O.S.91 Four Stroke
20 oz fuel tank
Fiberglass pushrods
Installed hatch on bottom for future "bomb-drop"
Painted interior grey
Reinforced wing saddle with lite-ply -- (just cuz)

This my first try at uploading a pic -- so fingers crossed -- here it goes.

Mimhoff, I like the colors you are doing. I too purchased the tail wheel kit; in fact I bought my King at the Toledo show in 2000. I am powering mine with a Saito 91.

I think the Saito 91 will be nice -- think it weighs a little less than OS and puts out more power than my OS will. I hope to maiden mine in the next week or 2 (work,weather and wife permitting). I am pretty excited about it -- my gut says it will fly great and I look forward to playing with flaps -- not because of need but just for fon.

Mimhoff,

I'm getting ready to build a Flyin' King, and I'm planning on building a bomb drop hatch for it. Do you have any pictures of how you built yours? If not, do you have any advice on how to build one?

Thanks,

Kevin

Kevin--

Still have not built the "drop" -- having too much fun flying. Here is a link to the BTE "Super-Flyin King" site that shows a "candy drop" -- maybe you could scale it down a bit and make it work:

Just for kicks, here is my flyin king. It is also powered by a Sato 91, and a 15x6 prop. Love the way it flys.
