RC Outlaw,
A lot depends on how much time you have the kit you're building. I've been able to completely frame up a Sig Something Extra and had it ready to cover in a weekend before. And then I have a couple of kits laying around here that I started a couple of years ago and haven't had time to finish up yet! [>:]
I finished a Lanier Shrike completely (including covering) over a week that I wasn't working before.
The kit has a lot to do with it. Some kits are so easy that they almost fall out of the box assembled (Something extra) and others are true "builder's kits" that you sell your soul to finish!!
My 2¢ worth.

Not looking for a build off but how about a TF F4U gold in a week. Been there and done that. I called to tell the Guy that I needed the motor or what he was going to use and he could not believe it was done
all it was was a SIG LT40 CADET Now the F4 U was detailed with the works
I am just trying to find out how to fine tune my SKILLS
I must be slowing down or becoming one of those old Farts that never flys and sets at the field making uncalled for remarks
Oh I forgot to say when I start a kit it is from 12 to 14 hrs a day till it is done[&o]
One retarded OLD FART
I love to build

I'm 41 and most of the guys I hang out with are in their 50's or 60's. My wife keeps telling me that I'm an "Old Fart In Training"!!

Wow, a weekend for an SSE, Im in hour 12 on my first kit (SSE), and only have 90% of the first wing to show for it ... granted my wife destroyed the 'actual' first wing yesterday. Nothing like some guilt credit to keep me going to the LHS

RC, You interested in building a kit for me? I have an Astro Hog I'd love to get built but don't have the time or energy to build it now. Or is it too big to ship assembled? We could let me glue the wing halves together so that part would be easier to ship. If so what would you charge?
Thanks,
Jim Tice

I sure would but do you no what it will cost to ship it both ways. it could be built up like and arf and rigged I would need the material and the price of the kit to build. You no I just shot my self out of the saddle an ARF would be cheeper. I am on my 19th plane this winter and spring TF P51 gold ready to sheet wing fuse is ready to finish been at it a week and believe it or not IT'S My own plane for a change.
I get repair jobs about 2 per week
keeps
me in beer money can't afford gas
Pic's you have to be kidding I can put part of a plane together in the time this dial up loads a Pic. I can not believe it take 30 min. to pull up a pic and the server runs at 48
give or take

Well I'm interested and it's an Astro Hog with lots of carving and sanding. And are you saying you would charge the price of the kit to do it and everything supplied to build like covering, servos, etc.? I bought the kit on ebay so you would need the retail price to build it. I'll check on the shipping cost as I really want an astro hog which you can't get in an arf or I would. I understand they are great flying planes. I'll let you know and maybe email you for further discussions. I have an engine ready for it and all I need is the plane built.
Thanks,
Jim

If you are really wanting it built that bad I have a lot of guys that no my work. And I could (barring any problems) on my side it should be in the air in a short time. I will check the building price, and if you want it rigged it will be a little more. The wing can be made 2 peace and some mods can be made for transporting.

I don't want to muscle in on the Outlaws beer money, but I build kits and assemble ARFs too. I need beer money too. The field is only 5 or 6 miles away--so I can't complain about gas.

What I try to do is have you just buy the kit, motor, covering etc.. and have it shipped to me. Thats saves you from paying shipping to get it all at your house----then ship it to me---then ship it back to you. If I just have it all shipped straight to me from Tower, or wherever, it saves shipping 1 time at least.
If I know a guy, and I've built for him before, I just buy what he wants and have it sent direct to me. I don't mind spending the money up front to have it shipped right to me. I build it, and then ship it to him with a bill. He sends me a check or paypal.
PM or email if interested

I've more than enough to do. Right now, I have 2 ARFs to put together for local guys. I'm also working on my own Kangke Laser with G-62 AND a scratch built glider for myself.
Next up is a 40 size Giles 202 kit from Lanier--thats mine. And then I've got a scale kit on the back burner for a long time buddy that finally decided he's ready to fly it--so I gotta finish that before next spring. Then, I've got about 15-20 more kits and ARFs for myself. A lifetimes work.........
I don't really NEED the work, but I like building so much, that I try not to pass up an opportunity to sniff CA and sand balsa.

I once built a Goldberg Electra kit in 5 days, about 2 to 2.5 hours/day. On the other hand, I started a Ted Strader design P-51 from a Flying Models article in 1959, and finished it in 1984. I also started a plan built Hustler delta in 1977 and just finished it two weeks ago.
I am not a procrastinator. I consider procrastinators are always in too much of a rush to get things done.

Hi
I might be interested in an Astro Hog build myself.
The kit is $109 from Tower.
I prefer fabric covering, which ever one you like best will be fine, the one I haved used is Kover-All but a prepainted iron on fabric is ok too.
I am flexible about the electronics and engine installation, I can do that or if you prefer turn key I can go that route too.
When you build a kit will you do any mods such as moving the landing gear out of the wing and onto the fuselage in front of the wing saddle ?
If you care to quote a price which would include shipping to Dallas Tx. I would appreciate it.
If you are not interested that is OK too.

May be I had better make it more clear
The price of the kit is retail and mods depends on what you want changed. And material are what you prefer and if you supply or I do
The Hog retails at $130 + and shipping is what they will charge at the time it changes as fast as gas prices anymore[:@] A pencil and little math will give your self a good idea if you want to pursue the kit further
Changes that are made to new kit usually do not have a charge unless you want a full make over of design
