Here is my story, Ive been building and flying in this wonderful hobby for going on 6 yrs now, and I have the tendency to build a new kit before I fly the wings off or crash my current ones, so today I pulled out one of my old kits that I built about three years ago and started to polish her up, while getting her ready ( Scraping some major dust off [X(] ) I took a good look at her, and said to my self "What was I thinking" With the covering job, control setup, and engine installation. Man I sure have come a long way, Experience wise. It was like wow, how could I have ever let anyone else see this thing[sm=confused.gif]!!!!!
So with that being said, Have you ever pulled out an old Plane and said to your self " What was I thinking? "

About a year ago I said the same thing looking at the first 2 kits I built several years ago. So with both of them I ended up stripping off all the covering doing a few mods and fixing all my building mistakes. Both of the planes fly a lot better now. Here is the second one I just finished a week ago.
It flies so much better now that its built straight!

Hey Lotus, sharp eye, it is a Funky. I took of the cowl and modified it a la somethin extra. It would have been impossible to shoe horn a magnum 90 4S in that cowl. It used to have a TT pro 46 which was terrible for 3D. We took it out last weekend for a remaiden and although I cant get it to torque roll for long some of the kids at the field had it torque rolling all day long. It does great inverted harriers!
onytay CA models is an Argentine company. They are a little better known for their pattern planes but the Funky is a good flier.
Anyway, dont want to hijack the thread I just wanted to give an example of how I took an ugly duckling and made it the belle of the ball! Now I am not embarrassed to take it to the field.

I rejoined the hobby back in 2001 and did the usual thing by building a trainer. Once I was back in the air with the trainer (LT-25), I then started a Venture 60 for my second plane.
After framing the Venture 60 up, I put it on the back burner to work on other projects. By 2004 I had purchased a computer radio, so made changes to it for more servos, covered and primed, then back to the back burner in lieu of other projects.
Now in 2006, electric power is finally a decent option.... hmmm. Yep, I think I'll pull the unfinished Venture 60 out again and extensively modify it for a big AXI motor & lipo batteries. I'll have to cut up the firewall and might even develop a fully cowled front end. Then, just maybe, this airplane will finally fly!
Aint this hobby fun?!? Gary
