Is it possible to cut a thread on the end of a piece of 1/8" dia piano wire without first heating (annealing) it.

Chuck it in a lathe, use a tool post grinder to cut the threads.

Do a search and there are topics on using welding rods which you can thread. As Bill said, don't ruin your die set on piano wires. The're real hard........

Next to impossible, and as already stated, it will ruin your die.

Been there, Tried that. I can send you the die with the music wire still broke off in it if you want to see what it looks like. I was younger then.
