Help me select the right servo for my next plane. I ordered the Lanier Extra 300S 1/4 scale kit. While I am waiting for my order to show up I am going thru the SERVO, equipment, and hardware outline.
I expect that this plane will have a weight of 12,5 lbs, eventhough I will try to end up with a 11 lbs plane.
I have some servos from my previous plane; 1 HS-81 micro 36 oz throttle, 1 digital HS-5645 143 oz rudder, and 4 HS-475 I think 67 oz aileron and elevator, all at 4.8V.
I read the Lanier online manual recomending to use standard servos but if using a more powerful engine, more than OS 108, then use 70 oz servos. I am wondering if my digital 143 oz servo will have power for the rudder? I heard an old saying to use as powerfull rudder servo as the planes weight on an aerobat! If that is correct I guess I would need a 200 oz servo (200 oz=12,5 lbs) or do I...???
Worth saying is that I will give my OS 120 FS pumped engine a go in this aircraft. If that is too dull or the plane turns out way too heavy I will gear up and put in a YS 140 or 160.
