Does anyone know a source where I can obtain a Piper Cherokee or Piper Comanche plan and/or kit? I am looking to build a Cherokee or Comanche in the .60 - .90 engine size, 60" to 70" wing span, 6 to 7 pound range. Is the old VK Cherokee plan or kit still around somewhere?
Many thanks,
Many thanks,

Years ago, a company called Hot Line Models sold a kit of the Comanche which was .60 sized. I saw a kit being offered on RCU a year or so ago. It may be possible to find one again. Good luck.

The Jack Stafford Comanche kit would appear to be just the thing. It has a wingspan of 72 inches and is very scale. Also flies very well. Jack Stafford went out of business last year but there are probably some kits still available. If not a kit could be cut by one of the custom cutters or you could cut one from the plans. I built one 1 1/2 years ago. I finished it with fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin then applied panel lines and rivet details. With flaps and retracts the weight is about 10 lbs. I am flying mine with a YS63 four stroke.

About 15 yrs ago, Great Planes made a Cherokee 40 kit. I know because I built about half of it before I quit the hobby. Check them out.

I just saw a Hot lIne Models Comanche on Ebay about a week ago. I wasn't familiar with the brand so I passed on it. I to am looking for a Stafford. I've seen the Stafford fly and I have the Stafford Ercoupe. They are simply incredible. However, as the saying goes, they are a builders kit.

Can't agree more. I have built two Aircoupe kits and love to fly the little beauty. My current one was modified to represent a Ercoupe 1946 model 415D. The main difference is the open cockpit versus the bubble canopy. I finished with fiberglass and resin and added all the scale detail like rivets. It has an OS52FS for power. Great kit.............I will post a picture of it and the Comanche to the photo gallery.

DBK,
Great Planes made the semi - scale Piper Cherokee .40 with flaps, you can search the plans and make an amplified copy of them, just calculating the area of the wing for a .60 or .90

Flying models magazine has plans for a Cherokee 200 with retracts, .60 size and scale.
Radio Control modeler has plans for a twin Comanche which could be built as a single.
I have the plans for the Cherokee 200, which I got off Ebay. The plans call for a foam wing, but I think a wood wing could be made with a little thought.
Hope this helps

I fly a full scale Cherokee PA-200R (Arrow) and of course I want to build a model as well. Found a set of plans from Carstons Publishing for $9.00 plus $7.00 shipping in a tube, also an article for $3.00. Ordered them early this week but haven't received them yet so I can't say anything about them, they are .60 size though. If you would like a copy of their email as to how to order just send me you email address at [email protected] and I will forward you a copy.

For anyone interested in the Hershey bar wing Arrow 2, Aviomodelli/Mantua has a great kit. I've flown one with a YS91 and love the plane. You can build it very scale and it handles very much like the real plane! Check it out at http://www.internet-rc.com./pipar2byav.html

Dear Ken,
I note that you can produce a blue line copy of the Stafford Piper Commanche plan. What do you charge for these and how can I obtain them.

DBK
