I am building this kit, actually it is my first kit to build, and everything is going great. It has been a great kit to build. I have built everything stock, control surface size and what not. It will be powered with a Saito 100, and now I am trying to figure out what servos to use and the arrangement. Are standard servos like Hitec 425s alright, or do i need stronger servos. What about pull pull on the rudder? Is it needed if the rudder is stock size? How about dual elevator servos? If needed recommendations, if I only use one servo what should it be, and how do I mount them? I am just looking for some recommendations. I plan to exercise its capabilities, so I want to make sure I have strong enough servos in it. Any help will be much appreciated.

I have this plane with a YS91AC and I really wring it out with standard servos. 1 on each aileron, 1 for Rudder (no pull-pull) 1 on Elev, and 1 for throttle, and I really put this thing through it's paces with no servo problems.

Standard servos are fine for everything except I would use a high torque on the rudder. Mine (powered w/OS 1.20) wouldn't hold knife edge til I put a high torque on the rudder. Consider a pull-pull setup too, easy to install in this plane and probably better for wild flying.

Really nice plane, but I sold mine recently to go bigger. Be careful handling the wing. That 1/16 sheeting won't take much abuse.

I'm just at the finishing stages with mine and seeing as how this expert help is available I was wondering :

I am using a JR 4721 servo for the rudder and planned on a pull pull setup with stainless wire. How would the standard pushrods that came with the kit work in a pull pull setup ?? Any advantages to using wire ??

Thanks in advance,
Bob

I used a standard servo on the rudder with the original pushrod and mine would climb in a KE

Correct, I built mine totally stock (which is unusual for me)

Hey Ryan,

First of all, don't worry about ANY issues you have with this plane. Give it to Steve so I can come up and get it for myself.

Secondly when you get it done, let me know what you think of it.

Thanks Jeff,

I doubt that I will give this one up, nice thought though. Do you have one of these? I guy I fly with has two of these and really likes them, so I thought I would build it as my first kit. It is just about ready to cover, so I was trying to figure out servos.

I think you could easily get away with standard servo all around, but for a little more rudder authority, maybe go with something a bit more heavy duty. If possible double bevel the edges for the rudder and you will get some knife edge loops in. Due to it's shear size it will not be an ultimate 3d performer, but it will do a great job of all the basic aerobatic maneuvers and you should be able to get SOME of the 3D stuff
