Default Plug-in wing conversion

I just wanted to throw this out there and see what kind of responses I get, and see if what I want to do is feasible in terms of structural integrity. I have a kit for a pattern airplane from the early 90's era of pattern designs. It was originally designed with a bolt-on wing and I would like to convert it to plug-in wings. The main problem I run into is the kit came with the fuselage already framed-up, and obviously the wing saddle is already cut into the sides of the fuse. In the conversion to plug-in wings I would also like to move the wing further up making it a true mid-wing rather than 3/4 low. The idea I had was to extend the sides down to where they would be without the wing saddle being there (including the belly pan), and then re-inforce the inside of the fuse with light ply (or carbon fiber), then further reinforce the outside with a plywood base for mating the wing root with the fuse. Has anyone else ever attempted/accomplished a feat like this, and is it a wise idea given the aerobatic use of the airframe? I yield my remaining time to the floor and leave it open for discussion.
