Default GP Extra 300S

I'm in the home stretch with my 300S and I'd like to find a decent looking pilot. Suggestions?

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Dan,

I've been thinking the same thing for my GP 60 size Extra 300S. I believe a 1/5 scale pilot is about right. Great Planes has a 1/5 scale Sport Pilot but looks like it's not due out until mid March at Tower ( http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXPRP3&P=7 ). I like the looks of the pilot that came with my Venus II but didn't see it offered as a spare part in the instructions. So not really a suggestion but perhaps a consideration.

Tom

P.S. Your plane looks good. By looking at it (cowl), you'd think you know something about paint .

Hi Tom,

Yeah, Tower is supposed to e-mail me when they arrive but I was kind of hoping not to wait that long. I'm starting to think Seven of Nine from Star Trek may look good under the canopy. But I don't think my wife shares the same opinion.

Thanks for noticing the cowl. That was my first attempt at checkers - I swore up and down trying to get it masked so that it looked ok. PPG DBC all around with DC3000 clear on top. Here's the latest pic.

Nicely done. You'll love the way it flies. It really flies like it's on rails. I put a TT 46 pro on mine with a slimline pitts muffler and an APC 12.25x3.75. I might have changed the size of the prop to get more rpms, though.

Have Fun,

Jay

I have a S.T. G51 with a Pitts in mine. I was thinking of 11 x 6 for the prop. Suggestions??

Dan,

I may not have realized that your Extra is the 40 size so I think the 1/5 scale pilot would be a little big.

I like the two-tone swooshes on the wing and stabs are a nice touch too.

Regarding the Seven of Nine thing...I'd try and dig my way out by saying something like, "I wanted to use Seven of Nine because she reminds me so much of you" (I still don't think she'd buy it).

Tom
