Default Another Venture 60 Completed

This one Features a built up cowl with inverted Saito, wing is shorter by one bay each side, 2 inches added to the fuse between stab and main wing and canopy moved forward 2 inches for a longer appearance. Fly's great, much like the original Venture but with faster roll rate, it still floats on approach just not as much as a stock one.

Absolutely INCREDIBLE!!!

Very nice looking Venture 60, I really like how your fuselage modifications turned out.
What size Saito are you using? (Im assuming an .82)

Im in the process of building my first Ventrue 60, and im planning on putting my Saito .82 in it. I am also planning on taking out one wing bay on each side of the wing.

Any other tips that you can offer would be welcome.

Ryan

Thanks Ryan, Im glad you like it. Actually its a Saito 100, yes overkill but its what I had available and what flew or "yanked" my first Venture around. Your 82 will be just fine. There are a few mods you can find on a search, such as a servo in each wing, shorten the wing, a built up cowl but the one I recomend most is to weld the landing gear together and fasten it with 2 1/4x20 nylon bolts. I have seen several Ventures break the landing gear block in half on a hard landing because there is nothing to give but the wood. Welding it together makes it self supporting, nylon bolts will break before the wood does.

Hey thanks for the tips.
That is definitely the nicest color pattern on a Venture I have ever seen.

I also really like how your built-up cowl turned out, do you by chance have any construction photos of that part?

I am also putting the servos in the wing as you did. I probably will not extend the fuselage, though yours did turn out good.

How was your knife-edge flight characteristics?

Thanks,
Ryan.

Knife edge flight is improved, it will do it at a slower speed probably due to the increased side area in front and canopy moved forward, I can also get it to loop.
Extending the fuse is more than meets the eye and was mainly done as a cosmetic preference. other than cutting and adding wood to the fuse sides and backing it up with lite ply, the tops of the second and third formers from the headrest had to be relocated and the bottom of the fuse angle was changed a little. Hope these pictures will help you. Its not nessesary to make the rabbit joint on the edges but use elmers glue, its easier to sand later.

Hey thanks a lot for the construction pictures of your built-up cowl; it sure turned out great.
In fact Im going to save these pictures and keep them handy in case I wish to try this out on my plane.

Thanks again,
Ryan
