I am wanting to do a 4* bash to a warbird. Right now I am thinking about a 4* 40 with a magnum 52 or 70 4 stroke. I am thinking maybe a me109 with cowl and retracts. Would the 52 or 70 be a better fit?
Anybody added retracts to a 4*?
I was also thinking about going with the 4* 60 and 2 magnum 52 4 strokes but I cant think of a multiengine warbird with the 4* lines. Any ideas?
Let me see your bashes. Right now I am open to any suggestions.

I always thought you could get a P-40 ish look if you changed the shape of the tail feathers and wing tips. I'd probably hang the engine upside down and make some sort of cowl. I've got a kit I bought probably around '92, and this is exactly the sort of thing I was thinking about, retracts and all. I've seen some done up in olive drab with D-day stripes and you can see the potential. I just figured the retracts would probably take a lot of work because of the wing design. I'd probably go with the .52 myself, my dad had one and flew it with a Saito .50, and that seemed to be a good combo, it's not a 3-d plane so the only thing you'd get with a larger engine is a couple of MPH and a better straight up climbing if that's your thing.

Someone here posted some pics of a Four Star (possibly a 120) he bashed into a Me 109. Sorry, I tried a search but couldn't find it. It was a year or two ago. The poster had modified the tail and turtle deck to get the basic lines of the Me 109. I believe he built up a wood cowl too.

I bashed two 4*60s into Kawasaki Tonys. Power was OS .91FX and Magnum .91XLS with Ultra Thrust muffler.
The best thing I ever did was to move the gear out into the wings. Straight line, no hands take offs and easy landings.

The me 109 is great. I have been looking through my wwII aircraft book and am thinking of maybe bashing into one of the lesser modeled Italian planes. But I am still leaning towards the me 109
Now my decision is whether to go with the 4*40 or 60. I already have a ST90 or a Magnum 90 4S that I could use in the 4* 60. I would have to buy the 52 4s but with the sale at tower right now I could get the magnum 52 and the kit for 170 to my door. (120 engine, 80 kit -30 discount on 200 order) Thats hard to beat!
Keep the ideas and pics coming.

Thanks sscherin. Right plane and poster; but here's the post I was thinking of (see post 84): http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_12...anchor/tm.htm#
Oops, no built up cowl. But I like it.
Ed, your Tony's are first rate.
