My wife tells me that I have a problem. Since December I have Built the following planes.
1 GP Dazzler Arf W/OS .46fx
1 Tai Ji 60 Arf W/YS .91
1 WM 80" Extra 300s W/Moki 2.10
1 US 40+ Kit that I am in the middle of building W/ Saito 72
And I just ordered a GP Ultimate Bipe Kit. ( I just cant stop)
I also have my eye on a GP slow poke .40 Probably next month.
She says I'm a freak. I tell her that if she met some of you guys here on rc universe she would change her tune. So how do you know if you've got it?

Seems normal to me. Now, if you start one and get half way done, then see another passion and start it too, then find another passion and start it also. That would be considered an anomolly (at least to me). I would think 4 planes on the work bench is the start of a problem. Oops! I just described me. Phaeton 90, scratch ME109E, Brian Taylor 75" corsair, and a swapmeet plane being setup. Now how you handle swapmeets determines how big a problem you have. Do you go with $1000 in your pocket and leave having spent all of it?

I'm in the same situation, my friend. I have 12 kits waiting to be built just sitting there in my little sanctum (the garage). My wife also tells me that I'm nuts, but here's the way I see it. My wife has just about every cooking type device ever advised (we usually eat mac&cheese or frozen pizza). She has a ton of crystal that she got while a member of some sort of crystal club (I doubt most of it has ever seen the outside of the box). This is the best one though... She has a display case with these little shoes in it. There are all kinds of little shoes in there of every size and shape. They are just a couple of inches long, yet cost about 25 bucks a pop. They don't light up, they don't make noise, you can't race them, and I don't think they would be that much fun to take out and play with. Yet when I want a plane that starts out as a pile of wood, and ends up as a flying machine, I'm nuts. Go figure.
I found out the secret of marriage a long time ago... Let your wife buy whatever sort of weirdo stuff she wants, regardless of cost. Then she can't say anything when she comes home from vacation and finds a new dirtbike in the garage. Yeah, she may complain, but then I just bring up the shoes and crystal and she usually settles down. Life's great.
If all else fails, just come over to my house. We'll sit in the garage and get our fingers stuck to airplanes...
I havn't even mentioned to her how much it will cost to build all of the ziroli and vaillencourt designs yet. hahaha...
Good luck!

I sold my 67 Ralley sport Camaro so that I could turn the detached garage into a shop. Since getting into the hobby a year and a half ago we have 10 flyable planes, 1 in need of repairs and on needing finishing. In addition to those I have build probably 10 planes for other people. Oh did I mention the shop. I framed up the floor and insulated under it so I would'mnt be standing on the cold concrete, insulated and drywalled the walls and ceiling, rans a 100 amp sub panel to the shop and installed baseboard heat on 3 walls.

I've been married for twenty-25 long years. This is the first hobby my wife hasn't said one word about. Golf, archery, hunting, fishing to name a few, all have one thing in common. You generally leave home to have any activity in them. This is the one hobby that at least during the building a of the kit you are home. Its the only reason I can think of that has created this reaction. Either that or she doesn't give a damn no more. Build away.

Sorry but I have to say your wife is right you do have a problem.
you need to have balance in everything you do in life, but your behavior is not very uncommon. one of my students has not even finished his trainer yet but he is talking about getting an extra300 next and a scale B29 after that and the list goes on.

Hmm...My problem is that I keep thinking/dreaming what plane to get next, even before I am done with the current ones. I have 4 new in box ARF's that need to be put together now but I am thinking what to get next!...
.....I like that Top Flight Bonanza..gotta get one of those, then there is that DJ-3 ducted fan that looks neat, oh yeah how about a Giant Scale WM P-51 with gas....oh and I think I need a Patty Wagstaff Extra.......Did i mention that new GP Lancair ARF?......maybe a twin??....oh well might as well be thorough and get a turbine too!.......well, If I am going to cover all the bases I better get some little electric job too!.......hmmm, where does it all end???? lol
But this is all coming from a guy that had an Avistar, WM P-51, and a GP Shoestring Racer done and ready for flight before I even flew an RC aircraft at all even once!!
Would you believe that I have 5 nitro RC cars too?

It really is a blast having your little building area all set up. I keep adding size and tools, new kits, parts, complete rtrs, etc. Keeps me out of trouble, and I wouldnt spend my money soo carelessly on anything else, or have it any other way, I have found the meaning of life in R/C! I must have the sickness, this is my living room! You can see the kitchen over the little bar I made into a display stand...

Hey Dago,
The Reno air racing video on the Dago Red site is the best aviation video I think I have ever seen. Now that is racing. Indy and Daytona can't touch that!
I have to go to those Reno races some time!
