From: bsb,
I am building a Top Flite Spitfire. When compared with the actual aircraft profile, I notice that the Top Flite Spitfire in my kit does not come with a carb air intake. On the actual Spitfire this intake is located below the engine crowl. Is this an omission in the packaging or Top Flite don't design this piece for this kit?

Top Flite did not design it for the kit. You will find that the carb intake is just where you will need to exhaust the cowl. I made one by carving it out of florists foam, then glassing it and removing the foam. It's only for static display and is held on with magnets and removed for flight.
The other major discrepancies are the over sized rudder and the extra wide placement of the landing gears.

From: bsb,
Thanks Scott.
Maybe I will also make a display one like yours. Look great on your Spit.
Yes the rudder looks odd. I am thinking of sanding it down a bit.
I use mechanical retracts for the landing gears.
