Clovis, Is this Mr Winters??? It's the 60 size Mid West Super Hots. Kit was bought at our club auction. I had picked up three kits and I think the seller had this one stored from 1986. It was complete with only A little warp in the fuse sides and I got most of it out when sheeting the bottom.

I have a set of original Hots plans and I've been thinking about building it. I'm almost finished with a profile Hots fun fly from the plans in Model Airplane News.

I'm told the Hots that Dan designed and sold through MAN plans is A better flying plane then the one produced by MW. I read it someplace when he was telling about the design. Something to do with the added weight or the removeable wing?? Been A while. I was thinking Atwater and reading Clovis. I have flown A number of times at the Freson field and used to fly the giant scale events held there.
Rick Maida cuts the Foam wing and sells A Giant Hots very cheap and it's A great flyer. If you Don't know him ask John Lockwood or go to the IMAA show in Chowchilla this year and take A look at Ricks plane. Does everything and looks good too.

Yes, the original Hots is a great plane. I always keep one on hand.
When you asked about Winters I figured you were talking about Chuck in Merced/Atwater. I flew quite a bit with him in the late 80's. He was quite a builder. I believe he closed the Hobby Castle and retired.

I saw a giant Hots or two at the giant scale fly-in last year. I'll be at the Fresno fly-in and the Chowchilla event. I've always wanted to do a larger airplane. A giant Hots might be kind of cool.

I was safety officer for the club that holds the Castle or IMAA event and missed the Fresno fly in last year. Rick flies the big one that is all black and called the Phantom or Shadow. When you see it ask him about it, he may still be making some up? A couple more days and I will be covering if my LHS has what I'm looking for. Decided it was now A Hell Cat and I need some white and blue solartex and I have to bend and solder some LG. The stock gear is too small for the engine/prop.

Only see a hots, sorry! O.K., I guess I can see it a little. However, other then maybe a NAVY blue color scheme and numbers and big NAVY accross the fuse or wing, I would not change this plane from a HOTS as they are too much fun as designed.

No design changes, just colors. I may make up some bigger elevators and rudder though. I have A YS 1.10 up front and the cowl got longer then normal and changes the look A bit and I have to make up another set of landing gear for it for ground clearence. Other then that it's being left stock. I am using 6 servos though.
