King Kobra Engine

I'd like some input from the group here on an engine recomendation for a King Kobra kit I have ordered. I love my little Kobra so much I wanted to go with it's bigger brother. I have had very good luck in the past with O.S but am learning to love my Super Tigres after getting better at engine tuning. I haven't any experience with any of the other manufacturers. My requirements are plenty of power but I'd like to not break the bank - when the kit arrives it will be a suprise to my wife
After the F18 I ordered I'm on shall we say the thinner part of the ice.....
Please no this or that is junk, I know better than that - just some honest recommendations.
Thanks a bunch,
Dan

That's interesting. I looked up the specs on Tower and see that it is very comparable to the S.T. 61 in HP but much lighter. If I say I plan to put retracts in the plane would that sway you at all??
Thanks,
Dan

Dan , The engine choice for the KKobra entirely depends on the kind of performance you are looking for. It can be an excellent precise pattern flyer with any two stroke .61 , however if it is speed you want then go with a .91 fx with a tuned muffler or a Jett 90.
I have two KKs one with retracts and one with fixed gear and they are both powered with 91 fx and Nelson ultrathust mufflers driving APC 12X10 props . I believe this is the best combofor power and reliablity.
The Sig KK is one of the best flying kits in the market so I would not hesitate to invest a few more $s for the right power source. I advise you to stay away from the 55AX which would be ideal for the Kobra or the Cougar.
Keep us posted.

Are 4-strokes not a good match for this airframe? I noticed that the Thunder Tiger F-91s is actually about 3 oz lighter than the Thunder Tiger Pro .61 2-stroke. I was actually leanining toward the TT F-91s for mine (I have a brand new one sitting around looking for a home), but a Super Tigre G-61 or Thunder Tiger Pro .61 would seem to be a more popular choice for this airframe.

I also run a King Kobra with the .91 FX, Macs tuned pipe, and turning a 13x7. It used to have a piped .91 FX, and now its night and day difference. It does a nice unlimited vertical, and huge loops. I love how when doing a low knife edge fly by, you can hear the air ripping. .91 all the way.
