Default Dazzler Kit Mods

When I build my Dazzler 40 I intend to make mods to the Rudder (bigger with counter balance) and the same with the elevators plus modding them for more rudder movement, will this unbalance the plane and will I need to make the Ailerons bigger as well. any other mods to make it a better plane it will have an SC40 in it, and the mods are so I can learn to knife edge.

I have 2 Dazzler both from kits. One has OS 46FX/11x6 prop with over 300 flights and the other with a new OS 46SF/11x5 prop and has about 30 or 40 flights. The only mod I made was a removable hatch in front of the canopy for tank access. Both will knife edge quite easily. The SF powered plane weighs 4lb 1oz and the FX plane weighs 2 more ozs. Keep the weight low and they fly great. A Dazzler flyer at our club extended the center wing planking to the next rib to get rid of that mid-speed resonance sound and it worked although his is powered with 4c engine. You made a wise decision in not getting the Dazzler ARF. I have flown 2 and they are a different plane. One had very wrinkled covering which didn't help.

I doubt it. The Uproar 40 and Dazzler are 2 of the most popular kits (now ARF's) at our field and they fly well with all kinds of engines. The OS 46 and 40FX's as well as the ST 40 & 45's, OS46LA, Tower 40 and 46's plus some 60 and 70 size 4c. Not sure I know what a SC40 engine is but if its a ball bearing 40 size engine it will do great.

one mod I am doing is I have special ordered a custom set of foam cores to give the plane a little more wing area. The cores are more of an EDGE 540 style of wing. These cores will increase wing area by about 100 sq in.....I have a 91 4 stroke I may use on it.

Default Do a search and you will see many modifications to this aircraft.

I wouldn't use built up wings if I were you, seen many accidents due to failing horizontal stab under pressure. Use a solid piece of wood for both the ver tand horz stabs.. This actually made my model balance without any weights..
